Animal feed exports and imports in first quarter of 2026

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first three months of 2026, exports of animal feed reached nearly US$419.69 million, an increase of 57.16% compared to the first three months of 2025.

Meanwhile, imports of animal feed in the first three months of 2026 reached nearly US$1.01 billion, a decrease of 13.64% compared to the first three months of 2025.

According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, the exports of animal feed in March of 2026 increased sharply by 66.79% compared to February of 2026 and by 50.7% compared to March of 2025, reaching nearly US$165.83 million. Overall, in the first three months of 2026, the exports of this product group reached nearly US$419.69 million, an increase of 57.16% compared to the first three months of 2025.
Leading animal feed export markets in March and the first three months of 2026
Animal feed exports to China were the highest in the first three months of 2026, accounting for 49.17% of the total export value of this product group nationwide, reaching over US$206.26 million, a sharp increase of 76.78% compared to the first three months of 2025. In particular, in March of 2026 alone, the figure reached over US$86.99 million, a sharp increase of 106.44% compared to February of 2026 and an increase of 53.15% compared to March of 2025.
Ranking second in terms of export value was the Cambodian market, accounting for 13.17%, reaching over US$55.28 million, an increase of 63.17% compared to the same period in 2025. In March of 2026 alone, exports to this market reached US$19.91 million, an increase of 20.06% compared to February of 2026 and an increase of 72.24% compared to March of 2025.
The next was the Malaysian market. The exports to Malaysia in March of 2026 increased by 28.07% compared to February of 2026 and increased by 20.65% compared to March of 2025, reaching US$9.77 million. In the first three months of 2026, the exports to this market increased by 16.39% compared to the first three months of 2025, reaching US$28.63 million, accounting for 6.8% of the total export value of this product group nationwide.
The exports of animal feed to the US market in March of 2026 increased sharply by 48.47% compared to February of 2026 and by 7.06% compared to March of 2025, reaching US$8.95 million; in the first three months of 2026, while the exports to the US market increased by 26.54% compared to the first three months of 2025, reaching US$26.79 million, accounting for 6.38% of the total export value of this product group nationwide.

According to the preliminary statistics figures from the Customs Department, imports of animal feed in March of 2026 increased sharply by 44.86% compared to February of 2026 and by 1.61% compared to March of 2025, reaching over US$373.97 million. Overall, in the first three months of 2026, the imports of this product group reached nearly US$1.01 billion, a decrease of 13.64% compared to the first three months of 2025.
Leading animal feed import markets in March and the first three months of 2026
The largest source of animal feed imports in the first three months of 2026 was the United States, accounting for 23.77% of the total import value of this product group nationwide, reaching over US$239.87 million, a sharp increase of 42.34% compared to the first three months of 2025. In March of 2026 alone, it reached nearly US$72.43 million, an increase of 1.19% compared to February of 2026 and an increase of 29.42% compared to March of 2025.
Ranking second in terms of trade value was the Argentinian market, accounting for 20.15%, reaching over US$203.37 million, a sharp decrease of 58.96% compared to the same period in 2025. In March of 2026 alone, the imports from this market reached US$65.77 million, an increase of 27.88% compared to February of 2026 and a sharp decrease of 50.7% compared to March of 2025.
The next was the Chinese market. In March of 2026 saw a strong increase of 71.49% compared to February of 2026 and an increase of 38.59% compared to March of 2025, reaching US$42.23 million. In total, the imports from this market in the first three months of 2026 increased by 35.21% compared to the first three months of 2025, reaching US$104.61 million, accounting for 10.37% of the total import value of this product group nationwide.
Notably, some markets, although with small import values, saw strong growth compared to the same period of 2025, such as from India (up by 122.24%, reaching US$67.96 million), from Italy (up by 203.57%, reaching US$4.11 million), and from Spain (up by 119.06%, reaching US$18.15 million).
