Vietnam's tilapia exports accelerated, requiring long-term strategy
Friday, April 10,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam's tilapia exports are experiencing impressive growth, reflecting expanding demand in the international market as well as the potential for development in this industry.
However, behind these strong growth figures are limitations in production infrastructure and supply chains, posing a challenge for sustainable development in the coming period.
Breakthrough growth in 2025
In 2025, total tilapia export value was estimated to reach US$99 million, a 141% increase compared to the previous year. This growth trend is expected to continue into 2026. One of the factors driving this growth is that Vietnamese businesses have successfully taken advantage of the high tariffs imposed by the United States on tilapia from China and Brazil, thereby expanding their presence and increasing market share in this market.
