Agricultural Market Report April 6th: Durian and Coffee Prices Drop Sharply Under Supply Pressure

 Monday, April 6,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - The agricultural market on April 6th saw mixed movements. While coffee and durian prices dropped sharply due to supply pressure, pepper faced export competition, rice prices remained stable, and pork prices in the South remained at their peak.

Roasted coffee prices fell sharply, dropping below 90,000 VND/kg
The domestic coffee market officially entered a strong correction phase after a series of rapid increases.
Weakened demand combined with new supply from Indonesia increased competitive pressure, causing purchase prices in the Central Highlands to fall sharply by 2,800 to 3,200 VND/kg.
Specifically, in the Dak Nong (Lam Dong) region, the price decreased by 3,200 VND/kg to 89,300 VND/kg. In Dak Lak and Gia Lai, the price was commonly traded at 89,200 VND/kg.
On the international market, the downward trend also covered the two major exchanges. On the London exchange, robusta futures for May 2026 fell 4% to 3,448 USD/ton, and the July 2026 contract declined further to 3,346 USD/ton.
On the New York exchange, arabica futures for May 2026 fell 2.1% to 295.4 US cents/pound, indicating that robusta faced greater downward pressure than arabica.
Domestic and export pepper under double pressure
While the global market is booming, Vietnamese pepper prices have fallen due to post-harvest supply pressure and escalating logistics costs stemming from tensions in the Middle East. Domestic purchase prices have weakened, pushing prices well below 140,000 VND/kg.
In Dak Lak and Dak Nong (Lam Dong), prices have fallen most sharply nationwide to 139,000 VND/kg. In Ba Ria Vung Tau (Ho Chi Minh City), prices have dropped to 138,500 VND/kg, while in Gia Lai and Dong Nai, prices are commonly at 138,000 VND/kg.
Conversely, on the global market, Indonesian black pepper has risen to 7,115 USD/ton, Brazilian pepper has reached 6,150 USD/ton, and Malaysian pepper has remained at a high of 9,300 USD/ton.
Of concern is the sudden drop in Vietnam's export price of black pepper, which fell sharply by $300/ton to around $6,000-$6,100/ton. Export price of white pepper also decreased by $150/ton to $8,900/ton.
Rice trading remained stable in the Mekong Delta
Rice prices have shown little fluctuation. Updates from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province show that the price of fresh OM 18 paddy has traded from 5,700 to 5,800 VND/kg, fresh Dai Thom 8 paddy has fluctuated from 5,700 to 5,750 VND/kg, and fresh IR 50404 paddy has traded around 5,400 to 5,500 VND/kg.
For export, raw rice varieties such as OM 5451 reached 8,450 to 8,550 VND/kg, Dai Thom 8 from 9,200 to 9,400 VND/kg, and finished IR 504 rice fluctuated between 9,500 and 9,700 VND/kg.
Regarding exports, Vietnamese fragrant rice with 5% broken grains is being offered at 400 to 445 USD/ton, and 100% broken grains at 329 to 333 USD/ton, maintaining competitiveness with supplies from Thailand and India.
Durian prices have dropped by tens of thousands of VND/kg
Durian purchasing warehouses have drastically reduced prices for Thai and Ri6 varieties.
In the Mekong Delta region, the price of Grade A VIP Thai durian has decreased by 30,000 to 40,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, now ranging from 115,000 to 125,000 VND/kg.
The price of Grade B durian has fluctuated between 100,000 and 110,000 VND/kg, and Grade C from 80,000 to 95,000 VND/kg. Defective durian is only priced at 25,000 to 75,000 VND/kg.
For the Ri6 variety, Grade A durian is being purchased at 80,000 to 90,000 VND/kg, Grade B from 65,000 to 75,000 VND/kg, and Grade C from 45,000 to 60,000 VND/kg.
Premium durian varieties such as Musang King (Grade A) traded around 130,000 to 145,000 VND/kg, while Chuong Bo durian (Grade A) reached 75,000 to 85,000 VND/kg.
Pork prices have improved across the board
Contrary to the decline of many commodities, pork prices have continued their recovery trend and maintained positive trading levels. Pork prices in the North continued their upward trend, with Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, and Hung Yen all reaching a peak of 65,000 VND/kg. Lai Chau, with the lowest price in the region, also reached 63,000 VND/kg.
In the Central and Central Highlands regions, purchase prices fluctuated from 63,000 to 66,000 VND/kg, led by Lam Dong at 66,000 VND/kg, with other provinces reaching 64,000 VND/kg.
Southern Vietnam continued to maintain the highest prices nationwide, ranging from 65,000 to 68,000 VND/kg. Specifically, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh remained at a peak of 68,000 VND/kg, while Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Thap reached 67,000 VND/kg, reflecting the stability of supply and demand in this key region.
Domestic rubber prices remained unchanged
Domestic rubber prices remained unchanged. Phu Rieng Company purchased mixed latex at 390 VND/DRC and liquid latex at 420 VND/TSC.
MangYang Company purchased liquid latex at 458 to 463 VND/TSC. Binh Long and Ba Ria companies maintained stable liquid latex prices at 432 VND/TSC/kg and 420 VND/TSC/kg.
Although the industry may face short-term supply pressure due to the start of the new rubber tapping season, its long-term outlook remains optimistic thanks to continued growth in global automotive demand.
