Viettel Global (VGI)’s revenue up 25% growth in 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - After 20 years of business, Viettel's international investment strategy has proven not to be a risky adventure, but a smart economic solution that brings hundreds of millions of USD annually to Vietnam.
According to the audited consolidated financial report for 2025, Viettel Global (stock code VGI), recently released, net revenue did not differ significantly from the previously published self-reported figures, reaching VND44,271 billion, a 25% increase compared to the previous year, the highest ever.
Not only did Viettel Global achieve record revenue, but it also recorded a record after-tax profit of VND11,250 billion, a 57% increase compared to the previous year. This figure places Viettel Global in the top 15 most profitable companies on the Vietnamese stock market and ranks 5th in the market excluding the banking sector.
Net profit attributable to parent company shareholders increased by 65% to over VND9,300 billion. Earnings per share (EPS) reached over VND3,000.
The strong business results helped achieve a 92% return on investment for the entire project (reaching 86% by the end of 2024), and the company's market capitalization currently stands at USD 10 billion. Notably, Viettel maintains its position as the number one network operator in 7 out of 10 telecommunications markets.
On March 28, 2026, at the ceremony celebrating Viettel Global's 20th anniversary, the company was honored to receive the title of Hero of Labor from General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Politburo and Minister of National Defense, on behalf of the Party and State leaders. This is a prestigious award given by the State to collectives with exceptionally outstanding achievements in labor and innovation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Phan Van Giang emphasized: “Looking back at Viettel’s 20-year journey of global business, Viettel International Investment Corporation has made exceptionally outstanding contributions to the country’s development, with notable achievements: Successfully building 10 leading telecommunications brands in many countries. Pioneering and inspiring the Vietnamese business community to expand globally, contributing to enhancing Viettel’s position, affirming the correct policies, leadership, and guidance of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense on combining national defense and security with the economy; clearly demonstrating the national aspiration, political responsibility, and resilience of military enterprises in the new era.”
Over the past two decades, Viettel’s journey to the global market has been linked to markets considered challenging for international telecommunications investors. In Cambodia – Viettel’s first overseas market – Metfone was the eighth licensed network operator, facing fierce competition. Viettel quickly built a network covering most populated areas, contributing to the popularization of telecommunications and internet services even in rural and border regions. Today, Metfone is not only the largest mobile network operator in Cambodia but also one of the businesses making significant contributions to the national budget and social programs.
Similarly, in Haiti, Viettel started under very special circumstances, after the Caribbean nation had just experienced a devastating earthquake in 2010 that destroyed much of its infrastructure. At that time, Viettel had only committed to investment and had not yet built a network. However, after the disaster, they decided to keep their promise, sending engineers to Haiti and starting to build a telecommunications system almost from scratch. Now, Haiti has become the country with the largest fiber optic infrastructure in the Caribbean. Viettel's number one mobile network operator there, Natcom, has helped many people access mobile telecommunications more easily, creating jobs for over 100,000 people.
In Burundi – one of Africa's most challenging countries – Viettel deployed the Lumitel telecommunications network in a short time, but a coup broke out just before its launch. While other network operators panicked and withdrew, Viettel's dedicated employees volunteered to stay, determined to persevere to the end. Just six months later, they rose to a firm number one position, winning the hearts of the people of Burundi.
These are just some of the countless challenges that over 10,000 Viettel employees have faced on the "international stage" over the past 20 years of venturing into the world.
The Chairman of Viettel Group, Mr. Tao Duc Thang, stated that the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" have become the source of strength that has helped generations of Viettel employees overcome many difficulties and persistently build and develop Vietnamese telecommunications brands in the countries where they invest.
Viettel's leadership affirmed, "Facing the mission of global business, Viettel aims to continue developing strongly in the telecommunications sector, while also expanding into new areas such as digital technology, dual-use high-tech industries, e-commerce, and logistics. With a target of 20% annual growth, we will continue to expand into new markets and are ready to face new challenges."
