Fertilizer imports fell sharply in first 2 months of 2026

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first two months of 2026, fertilizer imports reached 460,170 tonnes, valued at over US$155.96 million, a decrease of 47.1% in volume and 45.5% in value compared to the first two months of 2025.
According to the preliminary data from the Customs Department, in February of 2026, Vietnam imported 215,157 tonnes of fertilizer, valued at US$80.94 million, with an average price of US$376.2/tonne, a decrease of 12.1% in volume but an increase of 8% in value and 22.9% in price compared to January of 2026. In comparison to February of 2025, there was a sharp decrease of 56.3% in volume, a decrease of 42.7% in value but an increase of 31.1% in price.
Overall, in the first two months of 2026, fertilizer imports reached 460,170 tonnes, valued at over US$155.96 million, with an average price of US$338.9/tonne, a decrease of 47.1% in volume and 45.5% in value but an increase of 2.9% in price compared to the first two months of 2025.
The largest source of fertilizer imports into Vietnam was China, accounting for 53.3% of the volume and 48.3% of the value of the country's total fertilizer imports, reaching 245,096 tonnes, valued at US$75.25 million, with an average price of US$307/tonne, a decrease of 23.4% in volume and 12.3% in value but an increase of 14.5% in price compared to the first two months of 2025.
Russia ranked second, accounting for 8.1% of the volume and 16.2% of the value of fertilizer imports. In terms of volume, exports reached 37,433 tonnes, valued at US$25.22 million, with an average price of US$673.8/tonne, a sharp decrease of 63.5% in volume and 55.9% in value, but an increase of 20.8% in price;
Lao market followed, accounted for 7.5% in volume and 7.6% in value, reaching 34,660 tonnes, valued at US$11.83 million, with an average price of US$341.4/tonne; a decrease of 36.1% in volume, a decrease of 14.2% in value, but an increase of 34.3% in price.
