Vietnam coffee prices fall sharply on March 13 as market enters correction phase
Friday, March 13,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - Coffee prices in Vietnam dropped sharply on Friday morning as the domestic market entered a correction phase following a prolonged rally, amid expectations of increasing global supply.
According to traders, prices of raw coffee beans in Vietnam’s Central Highlands – the country’s main coffee-growing region – fell by 3,000 to 3,700 dong per kilogram from the previous day, trading at around 91,600–92,800 dong per kg. Specifically, coffee prices in Dak Lak declined by 3,000 dong per kg to about 92,700 dong per kg. Prices in Gia Lai also fell by 3,000 dong to around 92,700 dong per kg. Meanwhile, Lam Dong saw a steeper drop of 3,700 dong, bringing prices down to about 91,600 dong per kg. In Dak Nong, coffee prices fell by 3,000 dong to roughly 92,800 dong per kg.
Analysts said the coffee market is entering a correction period as the factors that previously supported prices gradually weaken.
Vietnam – the world’s largest producer of robusta coffee – has exported around 10 million bags from the new harvest and is expected to ship another 16 million bags in the coming months. Expectations of abundant supply in the future are beginning to affect investor sentiment, even though short-term supply has not yet become fully excessive.
In addition, prospects of a strong crop in Brazil are adding pressure to global coffee prices as the market reassesses the global supply-demand balance.
Data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs showed that coffee exports in the first 15 days of February 2026 reached 94,300 tonnes worth $448.1 million, up 5.9% in volume and 3.4% in value compared with the same period of the previous month. Compared with the same period last year, export volumes rose 21% while export value increased 1.2%.
From the beginning of 2026 to Feb. 15, Vietnam exported about 319,000 tonnes of coffee worth $1.53 billion, up 44.1% in volume and 25.7% in value from the same period in 2025.
On the global market, coffee futures recovered after a steep decline in the previous session. The nearest-month robusta contract on the London exchange rose $68 per tonne to $3,707 per tonne, while the November 2026 contract gained $35 to $3,370 per tonne.
Meanwhile, arabica coffee prices on the New York exchange also moved higher. The March 2026 contract rose 4.5 cents per lb to 296.5 cents per lb, while the December 2026 contract increased 4.25 cents to 286.45 cents per lb.
On Brazil’s exchange, arabica prices were mixed. The March 2026 contract climbed 5.95 cents to 381.9 cents per lb, while the May 2026 contract edged down 1.15 cents to 387.0 cents per lb.
