Vietnam rice prices largely stable on March 6, fresh paddy shows slight fluctuations

AsemconnectVietnam - Rice prices in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta were largely unchanged on March 6, while prices of several fresh paddy varieties edged slightly lower. Meanwhile, export rice prices remained stable, ranging between USD316 and USD434 per tonne.

Export Market
According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), Vietnam’s 5% broken fragrant rice was quoted at USD400–415 per tonne, while 100% broken rice was traded at USD316–320 per tonne. Jasmine rice was priced higher, ranging from USD430 to USD434 per tonne.
Domestic Paddy Market
In the domestic market, paddy prices in the Mekong Delta showed limited movement.
Data from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province showed that the price of fresh OM 18 paddy fell by VND100 per kg to VND6,000–6,100 per kg. Dai Thom 8 fresh paddy also declined by VND100 per kg, trading at VND6,100–6,200 per kg.
Other varieties were mostly stable. IR 50404 fresh paddy was quoted at around VND5,500 per kg, while OM 5451 fresh paddy ranged from VND5,800 to VND6,000 per kg. OM 4218 paddy slipped by VND100 per kg to VND6,000–6,200 per kg, and OM 34 was traded at VND5,200–5,400 per kg.
Market activity remained relatively quiet in An Giang, Can Tho, Tay Ninh, Ca Mau, and Vinh Long, where transactions were limited and mostly focused on paddy approaching harvest, with prices showing little change.
Rice Market
For rice, Dai Thom 8 raw rice was traded at VND9,150–9,350 per kg. CL 555 export-grade raw rice ranged from VND7,900 to VND8,010 per kg, while IR 504 export raw rice was priced at VND8,000–8,100 per kg.
Other varieties included OM 18 raw rice at VND8,900–9,100 per kg, OM 380 at VND7,600–7,770 per kg, and OM 5451 at VND8,800–8,900 per kg. Soc Thom raw rice was quoted at VND7,500–7,600 per kg, while finished IR 504 rice ranged between VND9,500 and VND9,700 per kg.
Rice supply remained modest across local markets. In An Giang, arrivals were limited as warehouses selectively purchased higher-quality rice, keeping prices relatively steady. In Lap Vo–Sa Dec (Dong Thap), rice arrivals increased, although prices remained stable. In An Cu (Dong Thap), supply improved and warehouses continued purchasing steadily, with little change in prices.
By-products and retail market
Prices of rice by-products ranged between VND7,500 and VND11,500 per kg. Broken IR 504 rice was traded at VND7,500–7,600 per kg, while rice bran was priced at VND10,500–11,500 per kg, largely unchanged from the previous day.
At retail markets, rice prices remained stable. Nang Nhen rice recorded the highest listed price at VND28,000 per kg, followed by Huong Lai rice at VND 22,000 per kg. Thai long-grain fragrant rice ranged from VND20,000 to VND 22,000 per kg, while Nang Hoa rice was priced at VND21,000 per kg.
Other varieties included Taiwan fragrant rice at VND20,000 per kg, Jasmine rice at VND13,000–14,000 per kg, common white rice at around VND16,000 per kg, and Soc rice at VND16,000–17,000 per kg. Standard rice was traded at VND12,000–13,000 per kg, while Soc Thai rice and Japanese rice were priced at VND20,000 per kg and VND22,000 per kg, respectively.
According to preliminary statistics released on February 14, 2026, by the Customs Department, in January of 2026, Vietnam's rice exports reached 651,430 tonnes, equivalent to US$309,895,921, an increase of 19% in volume but a decrease of 4.61% in value compared to December of 2025.
The Philippines continued to be Vietnam's largest rice export market in January of 2026, reaching 331,770 tonnes, equivalent to US$147,452,728, accounting for 50.93% of the total volume and 47.58% of the total value of the country's rice exports. Compared to December of 2025, the exports of rice to this market increased by 48.02% in volume and 17.6% in value.
China was a market with very high growth rate, reaching 118,189 tonnes, equivalent to US$56,793,099, accounting for 18.14% of total volume and 18.33% of total export value. Compared to the previous month, the exports to this market increased dramatically by 551.86% in volume and 481.19% in value.
Rice exports to Ghana reached 52,654 tonnes, equivalent to US$27,620,482, accounting for 8.08% of total volume and 8.91% of total value, a decrease of 11.27% in volume and 31.07% in value compared to December of 2025.
The exports of rice to Malaysia recorded a significant increase, reaching 47,738 tonnes, equivalent to US$19,511,564, accounting for 7.33% of the total volume and 6.3% of the total value, representing a 217.22% increase in volume and a 121.69% increase in value. Meanwhile, the rice exports to Singapore reached 8,642 tonnes, equivalent to US$4,791,054, a decrease of 29.04% in volume and a 37.53% decrease in value. Meanwhile, the exports of rice to Ivory Coast only reached 11,029 tonnes, equivalent to US$4,645,138, a very sharp decrease of 88.27% in volume and a 91.03% decrease in value compared to December of 2025.
Several other markets saw notable increases, such as Saudi Arabia with 5,367 tonnes, equivalent to $3,103,422, a 159.03% increase in volume and a 99.25% increase in value; Iraq with 250 tonnes, equivalent to $131,500, an 861.54% increase in volume and a 556.84% increase in value; Senegal with 245 tonnes, equivalent to $120,752, a 920.83% increase in volume and a 438.11% increase in value; and Russia with 482 tonnes, equivalent to $311,334, an 88.28% increase in volume and a 97.31% increase in value.
However, Vietnam's rice exports to some markets decreased sharply compared to December of 2025, such as Chile, with only 119 tonnes, equivalent to US$94,875, a decrease of 93.56% in volume and 91.38% in value; the Republic of Tanzania with 130 tonnes, equivalent to US$79,950, a decrease of 75% in volume and 76.05% in value; Turkey with 43 tonnes, equivalent to US$36,162, a decrease of almost the entire amount, by 99.81% in volume and 99.74% in value, respectively.
