Vietnam Agricultural Markets – Morning Update (March 3, 2026)

 Tuesday, March 3,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s agricultural markets opened lower on Tuesday, with domestic coffee and pepper prices declining in tandem, while rice prices were largely steady amid subdued early-week trading, according to https://www.qdnd.vn.

Coffee falls below 96,000 dong per kg
Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands fell by 500–700 dong per kg, marking the first adjustment of March and pushing farmgate prices below the 96,000 dong per kg threshold.
Dak Lak coffee was quoted at 95,500 dong per kg, down 500 dong from the previous session. Gia Lai and Dak Nong were also at 95,500 dong per kg, each down 500 dong. Lam Dong recorded the steepest drop of 700 dong, with prices at 94,800 dong per kg. Average prices across the Central Highlands ranged between 95,000 and 95,500 dong per kg.
Traders attributed the decline to short-term profit-taking pressure and mixed developments on international markets.
Calculations from data of the Vietnam Customs Department showed that Vietnam's pepper exports in January of 2026 reached 21,667 tonnes with a value of US$139.29 million, an increase of 67.21% in volume and 59.11% in value compared to the same period in 2025. This marked the sixth consecutive month of year-on-year growth in pepper exports, and is also the highest level recorded for January ever. However, the average export price of pepper in January of 2026 reached US$6,429/tonne, a slight decrease of 4.85% compared to the average price in the same month of 2025. The import demand from many major markets remains stable, helping the Vietnamese pepper industry maintain its important position in the world market. The United States continued to lead Vietnam's pepper export market in the first month of 2026, with strong increases in both volume and value compared to the same period last year, accounting for 24.5% of the volume and 27.89% of the value. Specifically, Vietnam's pepper exports to the United States reached 5,308 tonnes, with a value of US$38.85 million, an increase of 87.63% in volume and 78.81% in value compared to January of 2025. Regarding the market outlook, experts believe that global demand for pepper is projected to rebound in 2026, especially in the US market, following the reduction of tariffs on pepper to zero and increased purchases from many countries.
In January of 2026, Vietnam exported 2,846 tonnes of pepper to the EU market, valued at US$20.76 million, representing a 30.49% increase in volume and a 21.23% increase in value compared to December of 2025; an 8.42% increase in volume and a 15.31% increase in value compared to January of 2025; accounting for 13.14% of the total volume and 14.91% of the total value of pepper exports nationwide.
Vietnam slightly reduced its pepper exports to Southeast Asian markets in January of 2026, down by 4.23% in volume compared to December of 2025, reaching 2,150 tonnes, and down 7.02% in value, reaching US$14.22 million. However, compared to the same month of 2025, the volume and value of exports of this commodity increased sharply by 142.12% and 130.61% respectively.
In the first month of 2026, some markets saw strong year-on-year export growth, such as Thailand (+305.94%), the United Arab Emirates (+175.52%), Canada (+146.11%), South Africa (+377.79%), Poland (+258.035%), Egypt (+154.96%)...; Some markets with declining export turnover include: Germany (-20.84%), India (-13.6%), and the UK (-23.89%).
