PVCFC (DCM) expands value chain with food-grade CO2
Monday, March 2,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - In early February 2026, Ca Mau Petroleum Fertilizer Corporation (PVCFC, ticker DCM - HOSE) officially put its Food-Grade CO₂ production project into operation and handed over the first commercial batch of 75 tons of food-grade CO₂.
In the Food-Grade CO₂ production project, PVCFC successfully implemented a solution to recover CO₂ from the feedstock gas stream of the Urea Plant to refine and create a new commercial product line, contributing to environmental protection and generating annual revenue of over 50 billion VND instead of directly emitting CO₂ into the atmosphere.
The Food-Grade CO₂ Production Project has a total investment of 86 billion VND, with a designed capacity of 50 tons/day, using the main raw material of recovered raw CO₂ from the Permeate gas and Flash gas streams in the Urea production process at the Ca Mau Urea Plant.
The project's product is liquid CO2 that meets the international ISBT food standard, used in the production of high-end beverages and food processing. The project's product distributor is Messer Vietnam Co., Ltd., a member of the Messer Group (Germany), a leading global manufacturer and distributor of industrial gases.
The project helps reduce direct environmental emissions by 50-70 tons of CO₂ per day. This recovered CO₂, after refining, is stored and commercialized, creating direct economic value from what was previously considered an environmental cost.
Completing the CO₂ recovery-refining-storage-commercialization chain not only adds a new product but also lays the technical foundation for future industrial gas and chemical projects.
In its development strategy for the period 2026-2030, with a vision to 2050, PVCFC identifies expansion into the industrial gas and chemical sectors as one of its key priorities.
