Vietnam's petroleum imports increased in January of 2026

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics from the Vietnam Customs Department, in January of 2026, Vietnam's petroleum imports reached 1,119,126 tonnes, valued at US$722,793,505, an increase of 19.09% in volume and 14.12% in value compared to the previous month; and an increase of 39.55% in volume and 22.59% in value compared to the same period of 2025.
In January of 2026, Vietnam imported the most petroleum from Singapore, reaching 388,772 tonnes, valued at US$244,848,664, accounting for 34.74% of the volume and 33.88% of the value of Vietnam's petroleum imports.
Malaysia ranked second. In January of 2026, Vietnam imported 263,603 tonnes of petroleum products from Malaysia, valued at US$171,818,880, accounting for 23.55% of the volume and 23.77% of the value of Vietnam's total petroleum imports.
The third largest market was South Korea. In January of 2026, Vietnam imported 252,994 tonnes of petroleum products from South Korea, valued at US$157,859,107, accounting for 22.78% of the volume and 21.84% of the value of Vietnam's total petroleum imports, an increase of 19.54% in volume and 16.05% in value compared to the previous month; and an increase of 38.61% in volume and 20.97% in value compared to the same period of 2025.
The fourth largest market was Thailand. In January of 2026, Vietnam imported 105,930 tonnes of petroleum products from Thailand, valued at US$71,102,557, accounting for 9.47% of Vietnam's total petroleum imports by volume and 9.84% by value. This represents a 42.46% increase in volume and a 37.96% increase in value compared to the previous month; and a 395.76% increase in volume and a 330.53% increase in value compared to the same period of 2025.
