Positive signs for Vietnam’s coffee exports in 2026

 Friday, February 27,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the Import-Export Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam's coffee exports are projected to remain favorable in 2026 thanks to stable global demand and diversified supply policies from importing markets.

However, the market also faces many challenges as weather risks, production cost pressures, and increasingly stringent requirements for quality standards, sustainable development, and traceability continue to grow.
To maintain growth momentum and improve export efficiency, the coffee industry needs to focus on improving quality, promoting deep processing, and developing high value-added products to enhance competitiveness in the international market.
Regarding the market, businesses need to gather information to produce suitable export products. The EU and the US continue to be the two main markets for Vietnamese coffee exports, while Asia and Africa play an important role in expanding and diversifying markets.
Of these, coffee exports to the EU were the largest, accounting for 40.7% of Vietnam's total coffee export value in 2025, reaching 666.3 thousand tonnes with a value of US$3.63 billion, an increase of 26% in volume and 68.3% in value compared to 2024. The exports to Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands all recorded high growth. This trend shows that Vietnamese coffee is increasingly meeting the stringent requirements for quality, traceability, and sustainability standards in the European market.
In the America, exports to the US continued to grow steadily. Furthermore, exports to Mexico and Canada also recorded significant increases, with exports to Mexico showing a particularly sharp growth rate, indicating a trend of market expansion into Latin America. This suggests that the potential for Vietnamese coffee to develop in the American market remains substantial, especially in the roasted and processed coffee segments.
In Asia, the exports to traditional markets such as Japan, China, and South Korea maintained stable growth. In addition, several Southeast Asian markets such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia also showed increasing demand for Vietnamese coffee, particularly Robusta. These signals indicate that Asia is not only a large-volume consumer market but is also gradually becoming a potential market for value-added coffee products.
