Corn import markets in January of 2026

AsemconnectVietnam - In January of 2026, the whole country imported 1.44 million tonnes of corn, worth of nearly 351.7 million USD, with an average price of 243.83 USD/tonne.
According to the preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, Vietnam’s corn imports in January of 2026 reached 1.44 million tonnes, equivalent to 351.7 million USD, with an average price of 243.83 USD/tonne, a decrease of 4.78% in volume and 4.16% in value compared to December of 2025, but the price increased slightly by 0.64%; compared to January 2025, it increased by 44.09% in volume, increased by 40.81% in value, but decreased by 2.28% in price.
Vietnam's largest corn imports come from Brazil, with 820,977 tonnes imported in January of 2026, equivalent to US$200.04 million, at an average price of US$243.66 per tonne. This represents a 21.97% increase in volume and a 24.91% increase in value compared to December of 2025, while the price increased by 2.41%. Compared to January of 2025, imports also increased by 38.08% in volume and 36.59% in value, but decreased by 1.08% in price. Brazil accounted for 56.92% of the total volume and 56.88% of the total value of corn imports nationwide.
Argentina was the second largest supplier of corn to Vietnam in January of 2026, importing 190,929 tonnes, equivalent to US$47.09 million, at an average price of US$246.61/tonne, a sharp decrease of 53.77% in volume and 52.95% in value compared to December of 2025, but the price increased by 1.78%; compared to January of 2025, there was also a decrease of 50.69% in volume, 52.08% in value, and 2.82% in price; accounting for 13.24% of the total volume and 13.39% of the total value of corn imports nationwide.
Corn imports from India in January of 2026 reached 117,400 tonnes, equivalent to over $28.8 million, at a price of $245.36/tonne, representing a sharp increase of 844.49% in volume, 880.16% in value, and a 3.78% increase in price compared to December of 2025. Compared to January of 2025, there was also a sharp increase of 36,858% in volume and 15,101% in value, but the price decreased by 58.57%; corn imported from India accounted for 8.14% of the total volume and 8.19% of the total value of corn imports nationwide.
Corn imports from Southeast Asian markets in January of 2026 reached 23,250 tonnes, equivalent to US$5.87 million, at a price of US$252.57/tonne, a sharp decrease of 30.39% in volume, 33.2% in value, and 4.04% in price. Compared to January of 2025, there was an increase in both volume, value, and price, with increases of 53.12%, 54.44%, and 0.86% respectively; accounting for 1.61% of the total volume and 1.67% of the total value of corn imports nationwide.
