Exports to South Korea reached over US$2.6 billion in January of 2026

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics figures from the Customs Department, Vietnam's exports to the South Korean market in January of 2026 reached US$2.6 billion, an increase of 20.8% compared to the previous year.
The largest export item in January of 2026 was computers, electronic products and components, reaching over US$878.4 million, an increase of 33.6% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 32.9% of the total. The next was telephones and components, reaching US$4.07 billion, an increase of 14.6%, accounting for 14% of the total. It was followed by machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts, reaching US$407.3 million, an increase of 59.9%, accounting for 15.3% of the total.
Several product groups exported to South Korea saw increased export value in January of 2026 compared to the same period last year, such as transportation vehicles and parts increased by 39.1%; coffee increased by 28.2%; and glass and glass products increased by 99.3%.
The potential for trade development between Vietnam and South Korea is enormous. The bilateral free trade agreement has been contributing to further promoting political, economic, and cultural relations between the two countries, further strengthening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and South Korea.
In addition to the bilateral FTA, Vietnamese businesses have more options when engaging in import and export trade with South Korea, thanks to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Another FTA is the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA).
