The calculations according to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department showed that, Vietnam’s seafood exports in December of 2025 decreased by 3.59% compared to November of 2025 but increased by 9.26% compared to December of 2024, reaching nearly US$954.31 million. Overall, exports of this product group were estimated to reach nearly US$11.29 billion in 2025, an increase of 12.41% compared to 2024.
Main seafood export markets of Vietnam in December and the whole year of 2025
The largest seafood export market in 2025 was China, accounting for 20.21% of the total export value of this product group nationwide, reaching over US$2.28 billion, a strong increase of 31.9% compared to 2024. In December of 2025 alone, the exports of seafood to China reached over US$202.44 million, an increase of 3.35% compared to November of 2025 and an increase of 30.14% compared to December of 2024.
Ranking second in terms of export value was the US market, accounting for 16.91%, reaching nearly $1.91 billion, an increase of 4.12% compared to 2024. In December of 2025 alone, the seafood exports to this market reached over $123.93 million, a decrease of 10.68% compared to November of 2025 and a decrease of 17.64% compared to December of 2024.
Next was the Japanese market, which in December of 2025 decreased by 19.57% compared to November of 2025 but increased by 7.48% compared to December of 2024, reaching nearly $129.91 million. Overall, the exports to this market in 2025 were estimated to increase by 10.27% compared to 2024, reaching nearly US$1.69 billion, accounting for 14.97% of the country's total export value of this product group.

According to the calculations from the preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Customs Department, seafood imports in December of 2025 increased by 21.51% compared to November of 2025 and by 16.19% compared to December of 2024, reaching nearly US$355.76 million. Overall, the imports of this product group were estimated to reach over US$3.38 billion in 2025, an increase of 28.22% compared to 2024.
Main seafood export markets of Vietnam in December and for the whole year of 2025
The largest seafood imports were from India in 2025, accounting for 15.5% of the total import value of this product group nationwide, reaching over US$524.22 million, a sharp increase of 83.88% compared to 2024; of which, in December 2025 alone, it reached over US$57.72 million, an increase of 11.63% compared to November of 2025 and an increase of 17.12% compared to December of 2024
Ranked second in terms of trade value was the Indonesian market, accounting for 14.12%, reaching over US$477.39 million, a strong increase of 42.75% compared to 2024. In December of 2025 alone, the imports from this market reached nearly US$52.47 million, a strong increase of 43.21% compared to November of 2025 and an increase of 6.58% compared to December of 2024.
The next was the Norwegian market, which in December of 2025 increased by 12.69% compared to November of 2025 and increased by 23.09% compared to December of 2024, reaching over US$54.04 million. Overall, the imports from this market in 2025 were estimated to increase by 22.73% compared to 2024, reaching over US$393.81 million, accounting for 11.65% of the total import value of this product group nationwide.
