 Thursday, February 19,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), Vietnam's pepper exports in January of 2026 recorded impressive growth compared to the same period last year, despite a slight decrease in volume compared to the previous month, clearly reflecting an improvement in demand and trade value.

Specifically, in January of 2026, Vietnam exported 21,743 tonnes of various types of pepper, including 17,557 tonnes of black pepper and 4,186 tonnes of white pepper. The total export value reached US$139 million, of which black pepper contributed US$109.7 million and white pepper US$29.3 million. Compared to December of 2025, the pepper export volume decreased by 3.2%, but compared to the same period of 2025, it increased by 66.2%, showing a clear recovery and growth in the pepper industry right from the beginning of the year.
Regarding export prices, black pepper averaged US$6,494/tonne, equivalent to the previous month. Meanwhile, white pepper reached US$8,450/tonne, a decrease of US$115 compared to December of 2025. This development reflected a certain adjustment in the market, but the overall price level remains high, contributing to maintaining the export value.
In terms of markets, the United States continued to be the largest destination for Vietnamese pepper with a volume of 5,154 tonnes, accounting for 23.7% of the market share, although it decreased by 17.3% compared to the previous month. China ranked second with 3,339 tonnes, accounting for 15.4% of the market share and showing a sharp increase of 53.2%, indicating a clear recovery in import demand from this market. The exports to the UAE reached 1,549 tonnes, accounting for 7.1% of the market share, a decrease of 32.7% compared to December of 2025.
At the enterprise level, Nedspice Vietnam, Phuc Sinh, and Simexco Dak Lak were the three largest exporters, reaching 1,848 tonnes, 1,641 tonnes, and 1,595 tonnes respectively.
On the import side, Vietnam recorded a very strong increase in January of 2026 with a total import volume of 4,681 tonnes of various types of pepper, including 3,488 tonnes of black pepper and 1,193 tonnes of white pepper, with an import value of US$26.2 million. Compared to December of 2025, the imports increased by 91.4% and by as much as 157.6% compared to the same period last year. Cambodia was the largest supplier to Vietnam's pepper industry with 2,326 tonnes, followed by Brazil with 1,284 tons and Indonesia with 668 tonnes.
These figures showed that Vietnam's pepper industry entered 2026 with positive signals, not only in exports but also in the demand for imported raw materials for processing and re-export, thereby affirming Vietnam's increasingly prominent role in the global pepper supply chain.
