Cinnamon exports increased in January of 2026

 Friday, February 20,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - In January of 2026, Vietnam's cinnamon exports recorded significant growth compared to the same period last year, despite a slight monthly decline.

This development reflects the shift in supply and demand and the increasingly prominent role of key markets.
According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in Januaryof 2026, Vietnam exported 8,865 tonnes of cinnamon, earning $22.4 million. Compared to December of 2025, the country’s exports of cinnamon decreased by 7.7%, but compared to January of 2025, they increased by 21%. This indicated that cinnamon exports have maintained their growth momentum, despite the impact of seasonal factors and order adjustments in early 2026.
The market structure continued to show a strong dependence on traditional partners. India and the United States were the two largest export markets, accounting for 34% with 3,010 tonnes and 17% with 1,504 tonnes, respectively. The stable demand from these two markets helped the Vietnamese cinnamon industry mitigate risks in the context of global trade still fraught with potential fluctuations in logistics and costs.
From a business perspective, export rankings show increasingly clear competition. Son Ha Spices led in January of 2026 with 902 tonnes, followed by Prosi Thang Long with 869 tonnes and Rung Xanh T&K with 623 tonnes. Businesses such as Huy Chuc M&M and Lam Son Ha Spices also maintained export volumes exceeding 300 tonnes, reflecting a trend of expanding scale and increasing presence in the international market.
On the import side, in January of 2026, Vietnam imported 761 tonnes of cinnamon, with a value of US$1.6 million. Compared to December of 2025, the imports decreased by 24.4%, but increased sharply by 218.4% compared to the same period last year. Indonesia and China were the two main suppliers, reaching 458 tonnes and 242 tonnes respectively. This development showed that the need for additional raw materials and balancing domestic supply remains.
Overall, the cinnamon import and export picture in January of 2026 reflected an industry that is growing in depth, with exports playing a leading role, while imports play a supporting role, aiming to meet processing requirements and diversify products for the market.
