Vietnam hog prices fall on Feb 11

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, Vietnam’s live hog prices fell sharply in the northern and central regions on Wednesday morning, with declines of 1,000–2,000 dong per kg recorded in most localities, while the southern market remained largely stable, traders said.

Northern Vietnam
Live hog prices in the north dropped by 1,000–2,000 dong per kg across most provinces, trading in a range of 73,000–74,000 dong per kg.
Lao Cai and Phu Tho posted the steepest declines, falling 2,000 dong per kg to 73,000 dong per kg. Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Ninh Binh and Lai Chau each slipped 1,000 dong per kg to 73,000 dong per kg.
Cao Bang, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Dien Bien, Son La and Hung Yen also fell 1,000 dong per kg, with prices standing at 74,000 dong per kg.
Lang Son was the only province in the region to hold steady, maintaining a purchase price of 74,000 dong per kg.
Central and Central Highlands
In the central and Central Highlands regions, hog prices also declined broadly, with some provinces recording drops of up to 2,000 dong per kg. Prices ranged between 73,000 and 75,000 dong per kg.
Nghe An fell 2,000 dong per kg to 73,000 dong per kg. Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang and Quang Ngai each declined 1,000 dong per kg to 74,000 dong per kg.
Ha Tinh, Gia Lai and Khanh Hoa slipped 1,000 dong per kg to 73,000 dong per kg, while Dak Lak fell 1,000 dong per kg to 72,000 dong per kg.
Lam Dong was unchanged at 73,000 dong per kg.
Southern Vietnam
In contrast, the southern market was relatively stable, with prices ranging between 71,000 and 73,000 dong per kg and only one locality recording a decline.
Dong Thap fell 1,000 dong per kg to 73,000 dong per kg. Other key provinces, including Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City, held steady at 73,000 dong per kg.
Vinh Long maintained 72,000 dong per kg, while An Giang, Ca Mau and Can Tho continued to trade at 71,000 dong per kg.
Traders said the northern and central markets had faced stronger selling pressure, while demand in the south remained comparatively balanced.
