AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, rice prices in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta were little changed on Tuesday morning, with trading activity remaining subdued as buyers and sellers stayed on the sidelines, according to local traders and market data.
For rice, updates from the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Environment and industry sources showed export-grade rice prices were largely stable. IR 504 export rice was quoted at 8,000–8,100 dong per kg, while CL 555 traded at 8,200–8,300 dong per kg. OM 18 was priced at 8,900–9,100 dong per kg, OM 380 at 7,600–7,770 dong per kg, and OM 5451 at 8,800–8,900 dong per kg.
Dai Thom 8 rice was quoted at 8,650–8,800 dong per kg, while Soc Thom export rice traded at 7,500–7,600 dong per kg. Finished IR 504 rice was priced at 9,500–9,700 dong per kg, little changed from the end of last week.
Prices of rice by-products ranged between 7,600 and 11,500 dong per kg. Aromatic broken rice was traded at 7,600–7,770 dong per kg, while rice bran was quoted at 10,500–11,500 dong per kg, traders said.
Local markets across the Mekong Delta saw slow transactions and stable prices. In An Giang, rice arrivals were limited and trading remained sluggish. In Sa Dec, Dong Thap, prices of aromatic rice, OM 5451, CL 555 and other varieties showed little movement. In An Cu, Dong Thap, new transactions were scarce as market demand remained weak, keeping prices steady.
Retail rice prices were unchanged from the previous day. Nang Nhen rice was the highest-priced variety at 28,000 dong per kg, followed by Huong Lai at 22,000 dong per kg. Long-grain Thai fragrant rice traded at 20,000–22,000 dong per kg, Nang Hoa at 21,000 dong per kg, and Taiwan fragrant rice at 20,000 dong per kg. Jasmine rice was quoted at 13,000–14,000 dong per kg, while common white rice traded at around 16,000 dong per kg. Soc rice ranged between 16,000 and 17,000 dong per kg, ordinary rice between 12,000 and 13,000 dong per kg, Thai Soc rice at 20,000 dong per kg, and Japanese rice at 22,000 dong per kg.
Paddy prices were also largely stable. According to the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Environment, fresh IR 50404 paddy traded at 5,400–5,500 dong per kg, OM 5451 at 5,800–6,000 dong per kg, and OM 4218 at 6,200–6,400 dong per kg. OM 18 and Dai Thom 8 fresh paddy were quoted at 6,500–6,700 dong per kg, while OM 34 traded at 5,200–5,400 dong per kg, unchanged from the previous day.
Trading activity remained weak across producing areas, though fresh paddy prices held firm. In An Giang, most winter–spring paddy on offer was harvested after the Lunar New Year, with limited transactions and steady prices. In Can Tho, trading was slow as farmers continued to offer post-holiday harvests, with little price movement. Similar conditions were reported in Dong Thap, Ca Mau, Vinh Long and Tay Ninh.
On the export market, data from the Vietnam Food Association (VFA) showed Vietnamese 5% broken fragrant rice was offered at $415–430 per metric ton, 100% broken rice at $315–319 per ton, and Jasmine rice at $426–430 per ton, traders said.
