Monday, February 9,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, Vietnam’s domestic pepper prices were steady on Monday morning, holding near multi-year highs, as market sentiment remained firm ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, traders said.
In key growing regions, domestic pepper prices were unchanged from the previous session, trading in a range of 148,000–150,500 dong per kg.
Prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces were quoted at 150,500 dong per kg, the highest levels nationwide. Ba Ria–Vung Tau province was seen at around 148,500 dong per kg, while Gia Lai, Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai traded at approximately 148,000 dong per kg.
Traders said domestic transactions were limited, but prices remained supported by tight supplies and firm export demand.
On the global market, export prices were largely stable, according to data from the International Pepper Community (IPC). Indonesian black pepper from Lampung was quoted at $6,720 per metric ton, while Brazil’s ASTA 570 black pepper stood at $6,100 per ton. Malaysian black pepper (Kuching ASTA) remained the highest-priced at $9,100 per ton.
Vietnamese black pepper exports were unchanged at $6,400–6,600 per ton for 500 g/l and 550 g/l grades.
White pepper prices were also steady. Indonesian Muntok white pepper was offered at $9,247 per ton, Malaysian white pepper at $12,100 per ton, and Vietnamese white pepper at around $9,150 per ton.
Market sentiment in early February was broadly positive across major producing countries, with no negative price movements reported, the IPC said. Prices in the United States were lower than those in producing countries, supporting export interest.
In India, domestic and export pepper prices rose from the previous week, partly supported by a 1% appreciation of the Indian rupee against the U.S. dollar. Indonesian and Malaysian prices remained stable on steady exchange rates.
Sri Lanka’s domestic pepper prices increased as the country marked its Independence Day, while prices in Brazil, Cambodia and China showed no significant changes over the past week.
In Vietnam, white pepper prices edged higher over the past week, while other varieties remained unchanged for a second consecutive week, traders said.
Brazil exported 5,967 metric tons of pepper in January 2026, worth $37.9 million, down 17.3% in volume and 17.6% in value from December, according to Comexstat. Compared with January 2025, exports rose 37.5% in volume and nearly 40% in value. Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam were Brazil’s largest buyers during the month.
