Friday, February 6,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, Vietnam’s domestic rice market was largely steady on Friday, with slow pre-Lunar New Year trading keeping prices flat, while fragrant paddy asking prices edged slightly higher, traders said.
On Feb. 6, domestic rice prices and export quotations showed little movement, while paddy prices remained firm amid thin transactions.
According to updates from An Giang’s Department of Agriculture and Environment and industry sources, export-grade rice prices were quoted as follows:
CL 555 rice at 8,200–8,300 dong per kg,
OM 18 at 8,900–9,100 dong,
OM 380 at 7,600–7,770 dong,
OM 5451 at 8,800–8,900 dong,
Dai Thom 8 at 8,650–8,800 dong,
IR 504 at 7,650–7,750 dong,
Soc Thom rice at 7,500–7,600 dong, while IR 504 finished rice was quoted at 9,500–9,700 dong per kg, unchanged from the previous session.

Rice by-products were traded at 7,450–11,000 dong per kg, with IR 5451 broken rice quoted at 7,450–7,550 dong, while rice bran ranged between 10,500 and 11,500 dong per kg.
Traders said market activity remained subdued across major producing regions. In An Giang, arrivals were limited and transactions were slow, with prices for most rice varieties holding steady.
In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), fragrant rice, OM 5451 and CL 555 prices were stable, while trading in An Cu (Dong Thap) was weak amid low demand. Retail markets also saw prices unchanged from the previous day.
At retail level, Nang Nhen rice was quoted at up to 28,000 dong per kg, Huong Lai at 22,000 dong, Thai fragrant long-grain rice at 20,000–22,000 dong, Nang Hoa at 21,000 dong, Taiwan fragrant rice at 20,000 dong, Jasmine rice at 13,000–14,000 dong, common white rice at 16,000 dong, and ordinary rice at 12,000–13,000 dong per kg.
Paddy prices were also mostly unchanged. Fresh IR 50404 paddy was quoted at 5,400–5,500 dong per kg, OM 5451 at 5,800–6,000 dong, OM 4218 at 6,200–6,400 dong, OM 18 at 6,500–6,700 dong, Dai Thom 8 at 6,500–6,700 dong, and OM 34 at 5,200–5,400 dong per kg.
Trading in fresh paddy remained weak, with prices largely stable. In Can Tho, limited deals were recorded for newly harvested paddy. In An Giang, Winter–Spring paddy supply was offered steadily, with fragrant paddy asking prices edging up slightly, though volumes remained modest.
In Dong Thap, Ca Mau, Vinh Long and Tay Ninh, trading was quiet with little price movement, traders said.
On the export market, the Vietnam Food Association (VFA) quoted 5% broken fragrant rice at $415–430 per metric ton, 100% broken rice at $315–319 per ton, and Jasmine rice at $426–430 per ton, unchanged from earlier levels.
Restructuring Vietnam’s rice sector from production to trade has become an inevitable course of action as rice exports in early 2026 face a dual challenge from unfavorable market conditions and limited procurement and storage capacity, said insiders.
According to experts, the process requires not only active participation from enterprises, but also close coordination of the State and strong support from credit institutions.
Statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment show that Vietnam exported 7.9 million tonnes of rice in 2025, earning 4.02 billion USD, down 13.1% in volume and 29.1% in value year on year.
Do Ha Nam, Chairman of the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), said that despite falling global rice prices and export difficulties faced by most countries, Vietnam’s rice export turnover still surpassed 4 billion USD, a result he described as noteworthy. Despite the decline from 2024, Vietnam overtook Thailand to become the world’s second-largest rice exporter, trailing only India.
