Vietnam's cotton and textile fiber import markets in 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics from the Customs Department, in 2025, Vietnam's cotton imports reached 1.71 million tonnes, equivalent to US$2.88 billion, while textile fiber imports reached 1.32 million tonnes, equivalent to US$2.85 billion.

Vietnam's cotton imports in December and the whole year of 2025
In 2025, cotton imports reached 1.71 million tonnes, equivalent to US$2.88 billion, an increase of 13.6% in volume but a decrease of 0.3% in value compared to 2024.
According to the statistics from the Customs Department, in December of 2025, the country imported 156,815 tonnes of cotton, equivalent to US$258.14 million, an increase of 47.1% in volume and an increase of 48.9% in value compared to November of 2025. Imports also increased by 17.5% in volume and 10.6% in value compared to December of 2024. The average import price of cotton in December of 2025 reached US$1,646.2 per tonne, an increase of 1.2% compared to November of 2025 but a decrease of 5.9% compared to December of 2024.
Overall, in 2025, imports of this product group reached 1.71 million tonnes, equivalent to 2.88 billion USD, an increase of 13.6% in volume but a decrease of 0.3% in value compared to 2024. The average price for the whole year of 2025 reached 1,686 USD/tonne, a decrease of 12.2% compared to 2024.
Vietnam's cotton import markets in December and the whole year of 2025
The largest source of cotton imported into Vietnam was the United States, reaching 778,055 tonnes, equivalent to nearly 1.37 billion USD, with an average price of 1,756.5 USD/tonne, accounting for 45.6% of the total fiber imports of the country and 47.5% of the total value, a sharp increase of 134.4% in volume and 100.7% in value, but a decrease of 14.4% in price compared to 2024.
The second largest supplier of cotton to Vietnam was Brazil, with 454,571 tonnes, equivalent to nearly US$780.3 million, at an average price of US$1,716.6/tonne. This accounted for 26.6% of the total volume and 27.1% of the total value, a decrease of 9.9% in volume, 21.2% in value, and 12.6% in price compared to 2024. In December of 2025 alone, Vietnam imported 40,028 tonnes of cotton from Brazil, equivalent to US$65.75 million, at a price of US$1,642.7/tonne, an increase of 40.5% in both volume and value compared to November of 2025, and a slight increase of 0.03% in price. Compared to December of 2024, there was a decrease in volume, value, and price, with corresponding decreases of 36.1%, 42.4%, and 9.9%.
The imports from Australia accounted for 12.6% of the total volume and 13% of the total value of cotton imports nationwide, reaching 214,312 tonnes, worth of US$375.53 million, a sharp decrease of 33.6% in volume and 42.5% in value. In 2025, the country’s imports of textile fibers were estimated to reach 1.32 million tonnes, equivalent to US$2.85 billion, an increase of 5.9% in volume and 4.9% in value compared to 2024.
According to statistics from the Customs Department, in December of 2025, the country imported 125,731 tonnes of textile fibers, equivalent to US$257.04 million, an increase of 7.5% in volume and 9.6% in value compared to November 2025, and also an increase of 7.4% in volume and 7.3% in value compared to December of 2024. The average import price in December of 2025 reached US$2,044.4 per tonne, an increase of 1.9% compared to November of 2025 but a decrease of 0.05% compared to December of 2024.
Overall, in 2025, the imports of this product group reached 1.32 million tonnes, equivalent to US$2.85 billion, an increase of 5.9% in volume and 4.9% in value compared to 2024. The average price in 2025 reached US$2,164/tonne, a decrease of 1% compared to 2024.
Vietnam's textile fiber import markets in December and the whole year of 2025
The largest source of textile fibers imported into Vietnam was China, reaching 968,007 tonnes, equivalent to over US$1.93 billion, with an average price of US$1,994.6/tonne, accounting for 73.5% of the total fiber imports of the country and 67.8% of the total value, an increase of 13% in volume, an increase of 10.2% in value but a decrease of 2.5% in price compared to 2024.
The second largest market supplying this product group was Taiwan with 73,236 tonnes, equivalent to nearly US$199.21 million, with an average price of US$2,720/tonne, accounting for 5.6% of the total volume and 7% of the total value, a decrease of 20.4% in volume and 11.9% in value, but an increase of 10.7% in price compared to 2024.
The imports from India accounted for 3.8% of the total volume and 4.9% of the total value, reaching 50,390 tonnes, with a value of US$140.76 million, and an average price of US$2,793.5/tonne, a decrease of 16.4% in volume, 17.4% in value, and 1.1% in price.
