Vietnam's exports to Italy in December and whole year 2025
Friday, February 6,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics figures from the Customs Department, Vietnam's exports to the Italian market in 2025 reached over US$5.3 billion, an increase of 7.2% compared to 2024.
In December of 2025 alone, the country’s exports to Italy reached US$455.2 million, an increase of 15.03% compared to November of 2025.
This result showed that Vietnam's exports to Italy continued to maintain a positive growth trend, affirming the important role of the Italian market in the export structure to the European region, and reflecting increased import demand at the end of the year.
The total bilateral trade between Vietnam and Italy was estimated to reach US$7.34 billion in 2025, a 6% increase compared to 2024.
Key export items from Vietnam to the Italian market in 2025
In 2025, coffee was the leading export item to Italy, reaching US$700 million, accounting for 13.21% of total trade and showing a strong increase of 52.31% compared to 2024. This was a product with outstanding growth, demonstrating the high competitiveness and stable demand for Vietnamese coffee in the Italian market.
Iron and steel of all kinds followed, with US$680.1 million, accounting for 12.84% of the total but decreasing by 15.91% compared to the previous year, reflecting certain difficulties in this industry.
The exports of footwear to Italy reached US$589.1 million, accounting for 11.12% and increasing by 27.69%, showing a clear recovery of the traditional industry. Meanwhile, the exports of computers, electronic products and components also reached a similar scale of US$589 million, but decreased slightly by 4.76%, while telephones and components reached US$565.1 million, accounting for 10.67% and increasing by 16.24%.
Besides the main product groups, many other items also recorded notable growth such as textiles, transportation vehicles and parts, toys and sporting goods, contributing to diversifying the structure of export goods.
In 2025, several product groups saw year-on-year export increases, including: machinery, equipment, tools and other parts (up by 19.51%); cashew nuts (up by 19.19%); wood and wood products (up by 16.52%). The exports of various types of telephones and components increased by 16.24%. Notably, the exports of fruits and vegetables, despite accounting for a small proportion, saw a very high increase of 150.82%, indicating the potential for expanding agricultural exports to the Italian market in the future.
However, the exports of some product groups such as machinery and equipment, iron and steel, and electronic computers tended to decrease, reflecting fierce competition and fluctuating demand from importing markets.
In 2025, Vietnam's exports to Italy were estimated to achieve positive results with significant growth and a relatively diversified product structure. However, the exports still heavily concentrated in a few major product groups, while some sectors showed signs of decline. Therefore, in the coming period, Vietnamese businesses need to continue to exploit the advantages of high-growth commodities such as coffee, agricultural products, and consumer goods, while diversifying export products to enhance sustainability and competitiveness in the Italian market.
