Wednesday, February 4,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, Vietnam’s rice market was little changed on Tuesday as trading slowed ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, with both domestic and export prices largely steady, traders said.
Rice prices across the Mekong Delta showed minimal movement, while paddy prices held firm amid thin buying interest as major warehouses delayed purchases.
According to updates from An Giang’s Department of Agriculture and Environment and local traders, export-grade rice prices were quoted at 8,100–8,200 dong per kg for CL 555, 8,800–9,000 dong for OM 18, 7,600–7,770 dong for OM 380, and 8,800–8,900 dong for OM 5451.
Dai Thom 8 was traded at 8,650–8,800 dong, IR 504 at 7,650–7,750 dong, and Soc Thom at 7,500–7,600 dong per kg.
Finished IR 504 rice was seen at 9,500–9,700 dong per kg, unchanged from early in the week.
Rice by-products were quoted at 7,450–11,000 dong per kg, with broken rice IR 5451 at 7,450–7,550 dong, while rice bran traded at 10,000–11,000 dong, little changed.
Trading activity remained subdued across key producing provinces. In An Giang, transactions were thin and prices were stable. In Sa Dec, Dong Thap, prices of fragrant rice, OM 5451 and CL 555 edged lower, while other varieties were flat. In An Cu, buying interest was weak and market prices were unchanged.
At retail markets, rice prices were steady from the previous day. Nang Nhen rice was quoted as high as 28,000 dong per kg, Huong Lai at 22,000 dong, Thai long-grain fragrant rice at 20,000–22,000 dong, Nang Hoa at 21,000 dong, Taiwanese fragrant rice at 20,000 dong, Jasmine rice at 14,000–15,000 dong, and ordinary white rice at around 16,000 dong per kg.
Paddy prices were also little changed. Fresh OM 18 paddy traded at 6,300–6,500 dong per kg, OM 5451 at 5,800–6,200 dong, Dai Thom 8 at 6,300–6,500 dong, OM 34 at 5,200–5,400 dong, IR 50404 at 5,500–5,600 dong, and OM 4218 at 6,000–6,200 dong, compared with late last week.
Transactions were generally slow. In Can Tho, farmers offered limited volumes of winter-spring paddy with little price movement. In Dong Thap, farmers held firm asking prices for near-harvest fragrant paddy, while traders bid cautiously. In Ca Mau, Vinh Long and Tay Ninh, new transactions were scarce and prices remained stable.
On the export market, the Vietnam Food Association said 5% broken fragrant rice was quoted at $415–$430 per tonne, 100% broken rice at $315–$319 per tonne, and Jasmine rice at $426–$430 per tonne, unchanged from the previous session.
