Vietnam's imports of materials for animal feed production in 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, Vietnam's corn imports in 2025 reached over 11.91 million tonnes, valued at over US$2.95 billion; while wheat imports reached over 5.45 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly US$1.46 billion, and soybean imports reached 2.61 million tonnes, valued at over US$1.21 billion.
Vietnam's corn imports in December and the whole year of 2025
According to the preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, imports of all types of corn in 2025 reached over 11.91 million tonnes, worth of over 2.95 billion USD, with an average price of 248.1 USD/tonne, a decrease of 4.8% in volume, a decrease of 2.9% in value, but an increase of 2.1% in price compared to 2024.
In particular, in December of 2025 alone, the imports of corn reached 1.51 million tonnes, equivalent to 366.98 million USD, with an average price of 242.3 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 59.1% in volume, an increase of 61.3% in value, and an increase of 1.6% in price compared to November of 2025. In compariron to December of 2024, there was also a 7.8% increase in volume, a 6.9% increase in value, but a 0.8% decrease in price.
Main corn import markets for Vietnam in December and the whole year of 2025
Argentina was the largest market supplying corn to Vietnam in 2025, accounting for 46.5% of the total volume and 46.7% of the total value of corn imports nationwide, reaching 5.54 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 1.38 billion USD, a decrease in both volume and value compared to 2024, with decreases of 13.4% and 10.1% respectively, but the price increased by 3.8%. In December of 2025 alone, exports reached 413,011 tonnes, equivalent to $100.07 million, at a price of $242.3/tonne, representing a 150% increase in volume and a 154.9% increase in value compared to November of 2025, with a 2% increase in price. In comparison to December of 2024, there was a 27.5% decrease in volume and a 27% decrease in value, but the price increased by 0.6%.
The second largest market was Brazil, with imports reaching 4.15 million tonnes in 2025, equivalent to US$996.01 million, at a price of US$240.2/tonne, accounting for over 34.8% of the total volume and 33.7% of the total value of corn imports nationwide. This represents a decrease of 15.3% in volume, 16.2% in value, and 1.1% in price compared to 2024.
Corn imports from Cambodia were estimated to reach 122,435 tonnes in 2025, equivalent to US$27.88 million, at a price of US$227.7/tonne, accounting for over 1% of the total volume and value of corn imports nationwide; Vietnam did not import corn from Cambodia in 2024.
Vietnam's wheat imports in December and the whole year of 2025
According to the preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, in December of 2025, the country imported 297,931 tonnes of wheat, equivalent to nearly 78.55 million USD, with an average price of 263.6 USD/tonne, a decrease of 30.6% in volume, 33.1% in value, and 3.6% in price compared to November of 2025. Compared to December of 2024, there was also a decrease of 18.9% in volume, 22.2% in value, and 4% in price.
Overall in 2025, Vietnam's wheat imports reached over 5.45 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly US$1.46 billion, a decrease of 5.1% in volume and 7.8% in value compared to 2024, with an average price of US$267.4/tonne, a decrease of 2.8%.
Main wheat import markets for Vietnam in December and the whole year of 2025
In December of 2025, wheat imports from the main market Australia decreased sharply by 35.5% in volume and 35.3% in value, but increased slightly by 0.2% in price compared to November of 2025, reaching 67,264 tonnes, equivalent to US$18.6 million, at a price of US$276.5/tonne. Overall in 2025, wheat imports from Australia accounted for 25.4% of the total volume and 26.1% of the total value of wheat imports nationwide, reaching 1.39 million tonnes, equivalent to US$380.37 million, with an average price of US$274.1/tonne, an increase of 15.8% in volume, 5% in value, but a decrease of 9.3% in price compared to 2024.
Following that was the Brazilian market, accounting for 19.1% of the total volume and 18.4% of the total value, reaching 1.04 million tonnes, equivalent to US$267.73 million, with an average price of US$257.3/tonne, a decrease of 11.4% in volume, 8.7% in value, but an increase of 3.1% in price compared to 2024.
The US market ranked third, reaching 952,554 tonnes, equivalent to $258.57 million, at a price of $271.5/tonne, accounting for 17.5% of the total volume and 17.7% of the total value of wheat imports nationwide, a sharp increase of 96.5% in volume, 72.6% in value, but a decrease of 12.1% in price compared to 2024.
Vietnam's soybean imports in December and the whole year of 2025
According to the preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, imports of all types of soybeans in 2025 reached 2.61 million tonnes, worth of over $1.21 billion, with an average price of $465.5/tonne, an increase of 17.6% in volume, 7.8% in value, but a decrease of 8.4% in price compared to 2024.
In December of 2025 alone, imports reached 249,185 tonnes, equivalent to $116.23 million, at an average price was 466.5 USD/tonne, an increase of 24% in volume, 22.2% in value, and a decrease of 1.4% in price compared to November of 2025. Compared to December of 2024, there was an increase of 4.2% in volume, 5.1% in value, and 0.9% in price.
Main soybean import markets for Vietnam in December and the whole year 2025
Brazil was the largest supplier of soybeans to Vietnam in 2025, accounting for 45.8% of the total volume and 46.2% of the total value of soybean imports nationwide, reaching 1.2 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 561.28 million USD, with an average price of 469.7 USD/tonne, an increase of 11.2% in volume, an increase of 4.8% in value but a decrease of 5.8% in price compared to 2024. However, no soybean imports from this market was made in December of 2025.
The second largest market was the US, with 1.14 million tonnes imported in 2025, equivalent to $517.12 million, at a price of $454.9/tonne, accounting for 43.6% of the total volume and 42.6% of the total value of soybean imports nationwide. This represents a 23.9% increase in volume and an 11.4% increase in value, but a 10.2% decrease in price compared to 2024.
Following that was the Canadian market, with 190,721 tonnes imported in 2025, equivalent to $91.35 million, at a price of $479/tonne, accounting for 7.3% of the total volume and 7.5% of the total value of soybean imports nationwide. This represents a strong increase of 55.1% in volume and a 25.8% increase in value, but an 18.9% decrease in price compared to 2024.
