According to statistics from the Vietnam Customs Department, in 2025, Vietnam's petroleum exports reached 1,381,410 tonnes, valued at US$942.252 million, a decrease of 41.98% in volume and 50.76% in value compared to the previous year.
Specifically in December of 2025, the country’s petroleum exports reached 128,690 tonnes, valued at US$93.613 million, an increase of 20.39% in volume, 24.6% in value, and 3.49% in price compared to the previous month.
Main petroleum export markets of Vietnam in December and the whole year 2025
In 2025, South Korea was the largest petroleum export market of Vietnam, reaching 315,251 tonnes, valued at US$249.789 million, an increase of 22.47% in volume and 16.25% in value; accounting for 22.82% of Vietnam's petroleum exports and 26.51% of its export value. Specifically in December of 2025, the exports reached 35,036 tonnes, valued at US$28.667 million, an increase of 69.5% in volume and 76.98% in value.
The second largest market was China. In 2025, Vietnam's petroleum exports to China reached 292,754 tonnes, valued at US$234.988 million, an increase of 42.68% in volume and 26.91% in value, accounting for 21.19% of total volume and 24.94% of total value. Specifically in December of 2025, exports reached 35,995 tonnes, valued at US$31.211 million, an increase of 49.21% in volume and 54.35% in value, accounting for 27.97% of total petroleum exports and 33.34% of total petroleum exports.
The next was the Cambodian market. In 2025, Vietnam's petroleum exports to Cambodia reached 237,860 tonnes, valued at US$169.849 million, a decrease of 41% in volume and 45.95% in value, accounting for 17.22% of total petroleum exports and 18.03% of total petroleum exports. Specifically in December of 2025, exports reached 20,497 tonnes, valued at over US$14.45 million, a decrease of 7.97% in volume and 12.17% in value, accounting for 15.93% of total petroleum exports and 15.44% of total petroleum exports.
The fourth largest market was Singapore. In 2025, petroleum exports to the Singapore market reached 326,855 tonnes, valued at US$158.372 million, an increase of 16.51% in volume but a decrease of 5.47% in value, accounting for 23.66% of Vietnam's total petroleum exports and 16.81% of its export value. Specifically in December of 2025, the country’s exports of petroleum to Singapore reached 25,444 tonnes, valued at over US$9.667 million, an increase of 45.41% in volume and 35.8% in value, accounting for 19.77% of total petroleum exports and 10.33% of their export value.

According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Customs Department, in December of 2025, Vietnam's petroleum imports reached 939,705 tonnes, valued at US$633,345,510, an increase of 45.01% in volume and 33.76% in value compared to the previous month.
Overall in 2025, petroleum imports reached 9,958,085 tonnes, valued at US$6,819,944,047, a decrease of 3.37% in volume and 13.53% in value compared to 2024.

By markets, in 2025, Vietnam imported the most petroleum from Singapore, reaching 3,358,034 tonnes, valued at US$2,341,359,041, accounting for 33.72% of the volume and 34.33% of the value of Vietnam's petroleum imports, and 38.63% of Vietnam's total import value from Singapore.
South Korea ranked second. In 2025, Vietnam imported over 2.755 million tonnes of petroleum products from South Korea, valued at over US$1.829 billion, accounting for 27.67% of the volume and 26.82% of the value of Vietnam's petroleum imports, and 3.02% of Vietnam's total import value from South Korea.
The next was the Malaysian market. In 2025, Vietnam imported over 1.555 million tonnes of petroleum products from South Korea, valued at over US$1.025 billion, accounting for 15.62% of the volume and 15.04% of the value of Vietnam's petroleum imports, and 9.32% of Vietnam's total import value from Malaysia.
Following that was the Chinese market. In 2025, Vietnam imported over 1.422 million tonnes of petroleum products from China, worth of over $1.015 billion, accounting for 14.28% of the volume and 14.89% of the value of Vietnam's petroleum imports, and 0.55% of Vietnam's total import turnover from the Chinese market.
