AsemconnectVietnam - According to the calculations from the statistics figures of the Customs Department, in 2025, Vietnam’s export turnover to Cambodia reached over $5.6 billion, an increase of 6.6% compared to the same period last year.
In recent years, economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia has achieved very significant achievements. Accordingly, Vietnam is one of Cambodia's leading trading partners.
Textiles and garments were the leading export sector to Cambodia. In 2025, export turnover of this group of goods reached $902.1 million, an increase of 1.5% compared to the previous year, accounting for 15.9% of total exports. The next was the exports of iron and steel of all kinds, estimated to reach US$832.4 million in 2025, an increase of 12.4%, accounting for 14.6% of total exports.
Items with export value growth in 2025 compared to the previous year include: animal feed and raw materials (up by 45.1%); fruits and vegetables (up by 147.9%); and coffee (up by 260.8%).
Vietnam and Cambodia share many similarities in culture, market demand, and consumer habits. These are extremely favorable factors for Vietnamese goods and services to be well-received in the Cambodian market.
Along with bilateral agreements, regional agreements and treaties within ASEAN will further strengthen the economic ties between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The Project to Promote Border Trade Development and Export of Goods to the Cambodian Market in the period 2025-2027, towards 2030, sets the overall goal of boosting border trade development, increasing Vietnamese exports to the Cambodian market, contributing to achieving the bilateral trade target of US$20 billion by 2030, while promoting the transformation of trade quality, diversifying goods, and strengthening border economic cooperation, with a focus on connecting comprehensive supply chains from production to logistics.
The project sets a specific target for the period 2025-2027, including achieving an average annual growth rate of 15-20% in bilateral trade, aiming for US$15 billion by 2027, with Vietnam's exports accounting for at least 50%. Aiming for a trade turnover of US$20 billion by 2030, the focus will be on formal trade, reducing informal trade, and developing new cooperation models such as e-commerce and border logistics. The border infrastructure will be improved by 2027, with 100% of border gate warehouses meeting storage needs, and 80% providing full logistics services, effectively connecting with domestic supply chains.
