AsemconnectVietnam - According to the calculations from the statistics figures of the Customs Department, Vietnam's exports to Laos in 2025 reached US$1.08 billion, an increase of 43.1% compared to the previous year.

The largest export item to the Lao market in 2025 was chemical products, reaching US$353.1 million, accounting for 32.6% of total exports, an increase of 112.6%; followed by machinery, equipment, tools, and other spare parts, reaching US$140.6 million, an increase of 132.7%, accounting for 13% of total exports.
Some items with increased export value in 2025 compared to the same period last year include various types of iron and steel, up by 52.7%; animal feed and raw materials, up by 41.2%; paper and paper products, up by 78.9%. The exports of other base metals and products to Laos increased by 351.8%; electrical wires and cables increased by 120.8%; clinker and cement increased by 264.4%.
In addition, Vietnam also exported other goods to the Lao market, such as machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts; plastic products; fruits and vegetables; confectionery and cereal products; paper and paper products; fertilizers; and ceramics.
To take advantage of development opportunities and overcome difficulties and challenges, Vietnamese businesses need to enhance their proactiveness to fully exploit export advantages to Laos and increase export scale.
