AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, prices of several types of paddy on the morning of January 15, 2026, fell by VND200/kg compared with the previous day, as trading activity remained sluggish while rice prices were relatively stable.
Based on updates from the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Environment and Lua Gao Viet, Dai Thom 8 rice was traded at around VND8,550–8,700/kg; export-grade IR 504 raw rice at VND7,600–7,700/kg; export-grade OM 5451 at VND8,150–8,300/kg; export-grade Soc Thom at VND7,500–7,600/kg; export-grade CL 555 at VND7,340–7,450/kg; export-grade OM 380 at VND7,200–7,300/kg; export-grade OM 18 at VND8,500–8,600/kg; and finished IR 504 rice at VND9,500–9,700/kg.
Prices of by-products ranged from VND7,600 to 11,000/kg. Broken rice increased by VND100/kg compared with the beginning of the week to VND7,600–7,700/kg, while rice bran was priced at VND10,000–11,000/kg.
In local markets, trading remained slow and rice prices were generally stable. In An Giang, transactions were limited, and prices of OM 5453 and OM 18 white raw rice edged down slightly due to weak demand, while other rice varieties were stable. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), supply was limited and prices were largely unchanged. In An Cu (Dong Thap), trading improved somewhat and prices remained stable.
At retail markets, rice prices were unchanged from earlier in the week. Nang Nhen rice was sold at the highest price of VND28,000/kg; Huong Lai at VND22,000/kg; Thai long-grain fragrant rice at VND20,000–22,000/kg; Nang Hoa at VND21,000/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice at VND20,000/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice at VND14,000–15,000/kg; common white rice at VND16,000/kg; ordinary Soc rice at VND16,000–17,000/kg; ordinary rice at VND12,000–13,000/kg; Soc Thai rice at VND20,000/kg; and Japanese rice at VND22,000/kg.
Across many localities, trading of winter–spring paddy was limited and prices declined. According to the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Environment, fresh OM 18 paddy fell by VND200/kg compared with the end of last week to VND6,300–6,500/kg; fresh Dai Thom 8 paddy also declined by VND200/kg to VND6,300–6,500/kg; fresh OM 5451 paddy dropped by VND200/kg to VND5,600–5,800/kg; fresh IR 50404 paddy ranged from VND5,500–5,600/kg; fresh OM 34 paddy from VND5,400–5,500/kg; and OM 4218 paddy from VND6,000–6,200/kg.
On the export market, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), Vietnam’s export rice prices were quoted at USD420–440/tonne for 5% broken fragrant rice, USD319–323/tonne for 100% broken rice, and USD446–450/tonne for Jasmine rice.
Vietnam exported more than 8.06 million tonnes of rice in 2025, earning over 4.1 billion USD, according to the latest statistics from the Department of Customs.
The figures represented a year-on-year decline of 10.8% in volume and 27.6% in value, clearly reflecting the impact of the global downturn in rice prices over the past year. The country’s 5% broken rice was quoted in recent days at between 360 and 365 USD per tonne. A trader in Ho Chi Minh City said trading activity has slowed amid weak overseas demand, forecasting that demand is likely to remain subdued as the Philippines and Indonesia may curb purchases, while supplies from India are expected to rise sharply.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, as of December 31, the Mekong Delta, Vietnam’s largest granary, had planted 921,000 hectares of the 2025–2026 Winter–Spring rice crop, equivalent to 73.8% of the total planned area of 1.266 million hectares. Some early-sown areas have already begun to be harvested.
