 Saturday, January 10,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s export value of agricultural, forestry, and fisheries products was estimated to reach US$70.09 billion, an increase of 12% compared to 2024, exceeding the expected US$65 billion.

Of this, the exports of agricultural products reached US$37.25 billion (+13.7%), fisheries US$11.32 billion (+12.7%), forestry products US$18.5 billion (+6.6%), livestock products US$628 million (+17.4%), production inputs US$2.38 billion (+27.1%), and salt US$12.1 million (+84.9%).
Vietnam maintained 10 export product groups exceeding US$1 billion, with three groups surpassing US$8 billion: wood US$11.6 billion, coffee, and fruits and vegetables both reaching US$8.6 billion.
In 2025, wood and forestry product exports were estimated to reach US$18.5 billion
In 2025, wood and forestry product exports are expected to reach US$18.5 billion, an increase of approximately 6.6% compared to 2024, affirming its position as a key export sector of agriculture.
In 2025, despite the impact of international markets and climate change, Vietnam's forestry sector will maintain its growth momentum, achieving and exceeding many key targets. Wood and forestry product exports are projected to reach US$18.5 billion, an increase of approximately 6.6% compared to 2024, affirming its position as a key export sector of agriculture and making a significant contribution to the economy.
According to the Forestry and Forest Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), wood and forestry product exports in 2025 may have a trade surplus of nearly US$14.9 billion; the growth rate of forestry production value was estimated to reach 5.6-5.8%, equivalent to 103% of the plan. Forest cover remained at 42.03%, forestry law violations decreased by 13.8%, and the area of forest fires and impacts decreased by over 10%.
Reforestation efforts were intensified, with 284,646 hectares planted, reaching 109.5% of the plan; the area of forest certified under sustainable forest management increased by nearly 120,000 hectares, bringing the total area nationwide to approximately 730,000 hectares. Timber from planted forests supplied approximately 24.6 million cubic meters for processing and export.
Revenue from forest environmental services reached approximately VND 3,940 billion (119% of the plan). The transfer of 1 million tons of surplus CO₂ in the North Central region during 2018-2019 generated an additional USD 5 million, opening up potential for the development of the forest carbon market in the coming years.
Entering 2026, the forestry sector aims to maintain a forest cover rate of approximately 42%, with forestry product exports reaching around US$18.5 billion; while simultaneously promoting the development of large-timber forests, applying science and technology, digital transformation, and trade promotion. The focus will be on diversifying markets, reducing dependence on key market groups, building the "Vietnamese Wood" brand, promoting forest environmental services and the carbon market. At the same time, the forestry sector will shift from stability to high growth, directly contributing to the country's overall growth targets. The sector must improve the efficiency of forest resource management, control violations, overcome limitations in enforcement, and modernize governance methods using digital data.
Building on the positive foundation of 2025, the forestry sector is expected to continue increasing the added value of Vietnamese forestry products in the international market, moving towards sustainable development, efficient forest economics, and making even greater contributions to green growth.
