Industrial production continues to breakthrough in 2026

 Wednesday, January 7,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - Previously, the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) report for Vietnam's manufacturing sector in the last month of 2025 showed positive signs in terms of output, new orders, and employment.

The S&P Global report noted that Vietnam's manufacturing sector closed 2025 with positive growth signals, with the PMI reaching 53 points in December. Although this figure showed a slight decrease compared to the 53.8 points in November, the fact that the index remained above 50 points indicates a strong improvement in the health of the manufacturing sector.
The report indicated that new orders also increased for the fourth consecutive month due to improved customer demand; however, overall growth slowed compared to November. This was partly due to a decline in new export orders for the first time in three months, putting pressure on overall demand.
Regarding the 2026 outlook, the S&P Global report stated that manufacturers are showing increasing optimism about the prospect of increased production, and business confidence has strengthened for the third consecutive month, reaching its highest level since March 2024.
Also according to the survey results, nearly half of respondents forecast production growth next year thanks to improved customer demand, the launch of new product lines, and efforts to increase production capacity.
Commenting on the overall picture, Andrew Harker, Director of Economics at S&P Global Market Intelligence, said that Vietnam's manufacturing sector closed a turbulent year with positive signals, as output and new orders maintained strong growth, while business confidence reached its highest level in 21 months.
Overall, the manufacturing sector will enter 2026 in a positive position, with manufacturers optimistic about attracting new orders and potentially increasing production capacity. S&P Global Market Intelligence representatives forecast Vietnam's industrial output to increase by 6.7% in 2026.
