 Tuesday, January 13,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - In 2025, the Vietnamese shrimp industry faced many disadvantages, especially from the US market, but Sao Ta still recorded consolidated revenue of USD300.53 million and is expected to achieve its profit target for the year.

According to the preliminary consolidated business results for 2025 of Sao Ta Food Joint Stock Company (FMC), in 2025, the company's finished shrimp production reached 29,543 tons, an increase of 14.4% compared to the same period last year. Corresponding to the production trend, the consumption of finished shrimp also recorded an increase of 10.7%, reaching 24,540 tons.
Conversely, in the finished agricultural products segment, the company recorded a decrease of 2.3% in production, reaching 1,016 tons; but consumption decreased by as much as 23.7%, to 998 tons.
In the aquaculture sector, farmed shrimp production saw a slight increase compared to 2024, reaching over 12,000 tons. However, the company stated that the harvested shrimp this year were smaller due to the significant impact of EHP bacterial infection.
Sao Ta assessed that 2025 was a difficult and volatile year, especially with adverse impacts from the US market, facing a series of challenges such as: countervailing duties; anti-dumping (AD) lawsuits; and countervailing duty (CVD) lawsuits, significantly affecting the Vietnamese shrimp industry.
Nevertheless, the company still achieved positive results with consolidated revenue reaching USD300.53 million, a 19.8% increase compared to 2024. Accordingly, the company stated that it is likely to achieve its profit target of VND420 billion for the whole year.
During the period 2025-2030, Sao Ta aims to focus on developing its aquaculture activities, including research on shrimp breeding, while leveraging the strengths and achievements from previous strategies. Regarding markets, Sao Ta believes that if exports to the US face difficulties, the company will strengthen its penetration into other markets such as Canada, Australia, South Korea, and especially Japan. In addition, China is also a potential market that the company is considering and will enter when conditions permit.
