Vietnam-China trade sets new record
Friday, January 2,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - 2025 marked a special milestone for Vietnam-China trade as bilateral trade turnover reaches US$252 billion for the first time.
This result not only affirms China's role as Vietnam's number one trading partner but also reflects the scale and dynamism of the Vietnamese economy in international integration.
According to data from the Customs Department, Vietnam-China trade in 2025 continued to set a new record, with the value of bilateral goods exchange estimated at US$252 billion, an increase of 26.5% compared to 2024. This is the highest level ever, thus confirming China as Vietnam's largest trading partner in the past year.
Of which, Vietnam exported $69.36 billion worth of goods to the Chinese market, an increase of approximately $8 billion compared to the previous year. This result shows that the supply capacity of Vietnamese businesses is increasingly improving, especially for agricultural products, processed industrial goods, and manufacturing components.
Conversely, the imports from China continued to increase sharply, reaching $182.58 billion, an increase of $38.56 billion compared to 2024. This development reflects the large demand of the economy for raw materials, machinery, and equipment for production and export.
Notably, in just one year, bilateral trade between Vietnam and China increased by approximately $47 billion, after first exceeding $205 billion in 2024. The consistently high growth rate shows that the economic links between the two economies are becoming increasingly close, playing a pivotal role in Vietnam's overall import and export activities.
