Petrovietnam officially divests all 24.9 million Petrosetco (PET) shares
Sunday, December 21,2025
AsemconnectVietnam - The Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation (Petrosetco, ticker PET - HOSE) recorded a major shareholder change as the State shareholder divested all of its capital, reducing its ownership from 23.21% to 0% of the charter capital in the auction on December 11th.
At the end of the auction on December 11th on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE), the Vietnam National Energy Corporation (Petrovietnam) successfully auctioned all 24,916,934 PET shares at a matching price of VND36,500 per share, estimated to generate approximately VND909.5 billion.
In the auction, six individual investors participated, registering to buy 25 million shares at a price of VND36,500 per share. The lowest bid was 3 million shares and the highest was 5 million shares.
Thus, with over 107.3 million shares issued, it is estimated that the individual investor who bought the most (5 million shares) only owns 4.66% of the charter capital and is not yet a major shareholder, thus not required to report the transaction results (if related parties and prior parties do not own PET shares).
Despite the successful auction, PET shares unexpectedly reversed course and fell sharply on December 11th, dropping by VND2,450 to VND32,600 per share, with a record high trading volume of over 4.2 million shares traded.
According to its Q3 financial report as of September 30, 2025, Petrosetco stated that it has one major shareholder, Petrovietnam, owning 23.21% of the charter capital; and the remaining 76.79% of the charter capital belongs to other shareholders.
Regarding business operations, in Q3 2025, Petrosetco recorded revenue of VND5,483.84 billion, a decrease of 3% compared to the same period last year, and after-tax profit of VND145.16 billion, an increase of 95% compared to the same period last year. The gross profit margin improved from 4.6% to 5%.
Cumulatively for the first nine months of 2025, Petrosetco recorded revenue of VND14,216.15 billion, a decrease of 1.6% compared to the same period last year, and after-tax profit of VND247.52 billion, an increase of 56.1% compared to the same period last year.
In 2025, Petrosetco plans to achieve revenue of VND20,500 billion and after-tax profit of VND244 billion.
Thus, with after-tax profit reaching VND247.52 billion in the first nine months of 2025, Petrosetco has completed 101.4% of its annual plan.
