Groups of items imported from Japan in 10 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to statistics from the Customs Department, imports of goods from Japan in the first 10 months of 2025 reached more than 20.4 billion USD, an increase of 14.4% over the same period last year.
The group of computers, electronic products and components ranked first in terms of turnover in the first 10 months of 2025, worth 7.01 billion USD, an increase of 21% over the same period last year, accounting for 34.3%; followed by the group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reaching 4.04 billion USD, an increase of 24.2%, accounting for 19.7% of the export proportion.
Imports of many goods from the Japanese market increased in the first 10 months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024: Scrap iron and steel increased by 19.7%; plastic products increased by 19.1%; Aquatic products increased by 48.1%; ores and other minerals increased by 36.9%.
In recent years, trade between Vietnam and Japan has been relatively balanced, sustainable and growing steadily.
In 2024, Vietnam's exports to Japan reached 24.59 billion USD; imports from Japan reached 21.59 billion USD; the trade balance was in favor of Vietnam, with a trade surplus of 3 billion USD.
Thus, in 2024, the trade balance was in favor of Vietnam with a trade surplus of 3 billion USD, higher than the trade surplus of 1.7 billion USD in 2023.
