EU goods exports to Vietnam increased by nearly 5% in the first nine months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to data from the Vietnam Customs Authority, Vietnam’s imports from the EU reached USD1.472 billion in September 2025, up 1.24% month-on-month and 4.87% year-on-year. Cumulatively over nine months, total imports from the EU amounted to USD12.856 billion, an increase of 4.9% compared with the same period in 2024. This reflects stable import demand supporting domestic production and consumption, while reaffirming the EU as an important supplier of high-quality technology, machinery, equipment, and raw materials.

 
Import Structure by Commodity Groups
Import of EU’s computer, electronic products, and components to Vietnam reached USD289.45 million, down 10.18% from the previous month and 2.03% year-on-year. For the nine-month period, the value reached USD2.595 billion, accounting for 20.18% of total imports from the EU, continuing to be a key high-tech product group.
Machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts reached USD298.28 million in September, up 3.39% from August. Cumulatively, this group reached USD2.446 billion, accounting for 19.02%, showing stable industrial machinery demand and its continued importance to domestic production.
Imports from EVFTA Member Markets
Germany remained Vietnam’s largest EU supplier. In September 2025, import value reached USD370.57 million, up 4.31% month-on-month and 17.7% year-on-year, accounting for 23.22% of total EU imports. Cumulatively, imports from Germany reached USD2.985 billion, up 6.96%, reflecting stable demand for machinery, equipment, pharmaceuticals, and high-tech goods.
Ireland ranked second with USD269.77 million, declining 5.99% from August and 5.38% year-on-year. Cumulative imports reached USD2.575 billion, down 7.21%, accounting for 20.03%. This was the second consecutive month of decline, mainly due to reduced demand for pharmaceuticals and chemicals.
France ranked third with USD167.99 million, down 5.92% month-on-month but still up 7.18% year-on-year. Total nine-month value reached USD1.53 billion, up 14.14%, accounting for 11.9% of total EU imports.
Italy recorded USD148.56 million, down 5.96% month-on-month and -14.4% year-on-year; however, cumulative imports still rose 2.76%, reaching USD1.466 billion.
Mid-sized markets showed positive growth:
· Spain: USD70.15 million (+4.22% MoM; +6.75% YoY), nine-month value USD625.11 million (+16.96%).
· Belgium: USD90.21 million (+55.61% MoM; +39.12% YoY), cumulative USD603.69 million (+23.58%).
· The Netherlands: USD64.12 million (+8.46% MoM; +5.99% YoY), cumulative USD587.16 million (+3.47%).
· Sweden: USD52.27 million (+47.22% MoM; +90.6% YoY), cumulative USD377.63 million (+22.26%).
· Austria: USD44.01 million (+18.96% MoM; -0.98% YoY), cumulative USD362.09 million (+10.78%).
· Poland: USD43.71 million (+6.4% MoM; +43.65% YoY), cumulative USD339.29 million (+16.12%).
Several smaller markets also saw significant increases, including Denmark, Greece, Slovakia, and Croatia.
On the contrary, some markets recorded notable declines:
· Czech Republic: -40.75% MoM.
· Hungary: -20.46% MoM.
· Finland: Despite a MoM increase of 9.22%, cumulative imports still fell -8.54%.
· Other markets such as Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Luxembourg also fell in cumulative terms (-13% to -19%).
Bulgaria experienced a sharp MoM drop of -68.05%, although YoY value rose significantly, while cumulative imports still fell -5.48%.
Lithuania, Cyprus, Malta, and Latvia maintained small import values under 0.2% of total EU imports.
