LPG imports worth over 1.7 billion USD in 10 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - In the 10 months of 2025, the whole country imported over 2.79 million tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas, worth of over 1.7 billion USD, with an average price of 609.54 USD/tonne.
According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, in October of 2025, the whole country imported 374,753 tonne s of liquefied petroleum gas, equivalent to nearly 208.37 million USD, with an average price of 556.02 USD/ tonne, up by 40.06% in volume, up by 40.44% in turnover and a slight increase of 0.27% in price compared to September of 2025. Compared to October of 2024, it also increased by 38.97% in volume, up by 13.15% in turnover but decreased by 18.58% in price.
In the first 10 months of 2025, the country imported over 2.79 million tonnes of liquefied gas, worth of over 1.7 billion USD, with an average price of 609.54 USD/ton, up by 5.09% in volume, but down 1.28% in turnover and down 6.06% in price compared to the first 10 months of 2024. Vietnam imported the most liquefied gas from Malaysia, Qatar and China; of which, Malaysia was the largest market, in October of 2025. The imports from this market increased sharply by 148.27% in volume, up by 140.97% in turnover but the price decreased by 2.94% compared to September 2025, reaching 63,536 tonnes, equivalent to over 37.07 million USD, price 583.49 USD/tonne.
Compared to October of 2024, it also increased sharply by 259.37% in volume, 178.26% in value but decreased by 22.57% in price. In general, in the first 10 months of 2025, 503,516 tonnes of liquefied gas were imported from the Malaysian market, equivalent to nearly 328.83 million USD, priced at 653.06 USD/ton, up 69.39% in volume, up by 65.56% in value but down by 2.26% in price compared to the first 10 months of 2024; accounting for 18.04% of the total volume and 19.33% of the total import turnover of liquefied gas in the country.
China surpassed Qatar to become Vietnam's second largest liquefied gas import market. In the first 10 months of 2025, Vietnam imported 249,440 tonnes of liquefied gas from the Chinese market, equivalent to nearly 165.99 million USD, with an import price of 665.44 USD/ton, down by 1.41% in volume, down by 8.73% in turnover and down by 7.43% in price compared to the first 10 months of 2024, accounting for 8.94% of the total volume and 9.76% of the total turnover. In October of 2025 alone, Vietnam imported 27,279 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas from the Chinese market, equivalent to nearly 15.84 million USD, priced at 580.53 USD/tonne, up by 44.76% in volume, up by 40.62% in value compared to September of 2025 but the price decreased by 2.86%; compared to October of 2024, it decreased by 16.36% in volume, 33.31% in value and 20.26% in price. The next was the Qatar market, October of 2025 was the third consecutive month that Vietnam did not import liquefied petroleum gas from this market.
In the first 10 months of 2025, 261,092 tons of liquefied gas were imported from Qatar, worth of nearly 162.4 million USD, at a price of 622 USD/tonne, a sharp decrease of 54.55% in volume, a decrease of 54.28% in turnover but a slight increase of 0.6% in price compared to the first 10 months of 2024; accounting for 9.35% of the total volume and 9.55% of the total import turnover of liquefied gas of the whole country.
