Vietnam manufacturing PMI rose to 54.5 points

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam manufacturing PMI saw growth momentum at the start of the last quarter of 2025. The output and new orders increased strongly.

According to S&P Global, there were three highlights in Vietnam Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) in October 2025, inclusing the output and new orders increased strongly and faster; employment and purchase inventories increased again; selling prices increased the fastest since June of 2022.

S&P Global's report noted that Vietnam's manufacturing industry saw an improvement in growth momentum at the start of the fourth quarter of 2025. The output and new orders increased strongly and faster, while the employment increased for the first time in more than a. The inventories of purchases were also recorded to increase again, while business confidence reached a 16-month high. Meanwhile, inflationary pressures also strengthened, with both input costs and output prices rising at a faster pace than in September.

Vietnam's manufacturing PMI rose to 54.5 in October, up significantly from 50.4 in September, indicating a strong improvement in the health of the manufacturing sector compared to the previous month. In fact, the business conditions strengthened by the largest amount since July of 2024.
New orders increased for the second consecutive time, and the rate of increase was strong and much stronger than in September. Moreover, the rate of increase was the fastest since July 2024 as customer demand improved.
New export orders contributed to the first increase in total new orders in a year, albeit only marginally.
Manufacturers responded to the rise in new orders, and the increase was the strongest since July of 2024. Output has now increased for six months.
Along with the sharper increase in output in the previous survey, firms were also more optimistic about the outlook for output over the next 12 months. Business sentiment improved to a 16-month high, supported by confidence that new orders will continue to rise and plans to increase production capacity.
