Petroleum imports reached more than 7 million tonnes in September

AsemconnectVietnam - According to preliminary statistics from the Customs, petroleum imports to Vietnam in September of 2025 decreased by 6.6% in volume and 6.4% in value compared to the previous month, reaching 758,984 tonnes, worth 521.45 million USD.

In the first 9 months of 2025, the amount of imported petroleum reached 7,625,484 tonnes, worth of 5.2 billion USD.
Vietnam imported the most petroleum from Singapore in the first 9 months of 2025, accounting for 34-35% of the total import volume and value, reaching 2,639,872 tonnes, worth of 1.8 billion USD, up by 49.6% in volume and 27.3% in value compared to the same period of 2024. In September of 2025 alone, the imports decreased by 3.9% in volume and 1.0% in value compared to July of 2025, reaching 184,651 tonnes, worth of 131.0 million USD.
It was followed by the South Korean market, accounting for 27-28% of the total import volume and value in the first 9 months of 2025, reaching 2,195,328 tonnes, worth of 1.4 billion USD, down by 9.2% in volume and down by 19.8% in value. In September of 2025 alone, imports reached 230,174 tonnes, worth of 153.9 million USD, down by 11.5% in volume and down by 11% in value.
The next was the Malaysian market, in the first 9 months of 2025 accounting for 16% of the total import volume and turnover, down by 29.3% in volume and down by 41.3% in turnover, reaching 1,273,949 tonnes, worth of 839.9 million USD. In September of 2025 alone, the imports from this market decreased by 6.9% in volume and down by 10.7% in turnover.
The imports of gasoline and oil from China accounted for 13% of the total volume and total turnover in the first 9 months of 2025, reaching 1,016,567 tonnes, worth of 714 million USD, up by 17.5% in volume and up by 1.9% in value, with an average price of 714 USD/tonne. In September of 2025 alone, the imports reached 104,283 tonnes, worth of 75.6 million USD, down by 18.1% in volume and 17.9% in value. The next was the Thai market, which accounted for 3% of the total import volume and turnover in the first 9 months of 2025, down by 48.3% in volume and by 53.6% in turnover, reaching 228,514 tonnes, worth of 163.4 million USD. In September of 2025 alone, the country’s imports of petroleum from Thailan reached 70,473 tonnes, worth of 50.1 million USD, up by 115.2% in volume and by 114.2% in value.
