 Wednesday, October 22,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to statistics from the Customs Department, the export turnover of Vietnamese goods to Brunei in the first 9 months of 2025 reached 103.2 million, down by 11.7% over the same period last year.

Leading the export turnover in the first 9 months of 2025 was the group of aquatic products reaching 1.38 million USD, up by 7.1% over the same period last year. The next was the group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reaching 793 thousand USD, down by 27.1%.
Brunei is an Islamic country, so agricultural and aquatic products and processed foods must comply with Halal regulations. Moreover, Brunei is a potential market for Vietnamese consumer products, agricultural products and foods.
Meanwhile, Vietnam has advantages in coffee, rice, processed products, seafood, spices, beans, vegetables, fruits, etc., which have the potential to participate more deeply in the Halal food supply chain in Southeast Asia in general and Brunei in particular.
The Vietnam Trade Office in Brunei said that despite differences in area, population, and culture, Vietnam and Brunei have similar views on international and regional issues. This is a favorable premise to promote cooperation between the two countries. In addition, both countries are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
In order to overcome difficulties and seize opportunities in trade between Vietnam and Brunei, Vietnamese enterprises need to proactively and actively approach the Brunei market and partners. Specifically, in deeply participating in regional and global production and supply chains through many initiatives and activities in the Halal field such as Halal forums and fairs in Brunei.
Furthermore, to increase the export of Vietnamese goods to Brunei, businesses need to start by building and implementing an effective business strategy. This is based on analyzing and correctly evaluating the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges, and the current position of the business with the goals to be achieved.
