AsemconnectVietnam - According to preliminary statistics of the Customs Department, the two-way trade relationship between Vietnam and Brunei in the first 9 months of 2025 reached nearly 419.78 million USD, down by 22.35% compared to the same period of 2024.

In particular, goods imported from Brunei into Vietnam reached nearly 316.49 million USD in the first 9 months of 2025, down by 25.28% compared to the first 9 months of 2024.
In September of 2025 alone, import turnover decreased by 44.14% compared to August of 2025, reaching nearly 25.61 million USD and down by 70.47% compared to September of 2024.
In the opposite direction, goods exports to Brunei reached over 103.29 million USD in the first 9 months of 2025, down by 11.77% compared to the first 9 months of 2024. Thus, Vietnam's trade deficit with Brunei in the first 9 months reached nearly 213.2 million USD, down 30.43% compared to the first 9 months of 2024.
In 2024, the two-way trade relationship between Vietnam and Brunei reached over 671.38 million USD, up by 165% compared to 2023. The trade deficit with Brunei in 2024 reached 382.35 million USD, up by 293.62%.
The largest group of imported goods from Brunei in the past 9 months was crude oil, reaching nearly 49.97 million USD, accounting for 15.79% of the total import turnover of all kinds of goods from this market, down by 52.96% compared to the first 9 months of 2024. The group of imported chemicals from Brunei ranked second in terms of turnover, reaching 20.13 million USD, accounting for 6.36% of the total turnover, down by 19.91%. The remaining group of other goods reached nearly 246.39 million USD, accounting for 77.85%, down by 15.67%.
