Vietnam-Spain trade relations prospects
Vietnam-Spain trade relations are looking very positive, underpinned by a solid political foundation and important trade agreements. The two countries are moving towards establishing a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, creating a strong driving force for economic cooperation.
The bilateral trade turnover has continued to grow impressively, reaching a record high in recent years. The goal of striving to exceed the 8 billion USD mark in the coming time is completely feasible.
The main lever is the EVFTA Agreement, opening up great opportunities for Vietnamese goods (such as phones, textiles, agricultural products, seafood) to penetrate deeper into the Spanish market. Vietnam is currently Spain's largest trading partner in ASEAN.
There is great room for cooperation in areas where Spain has strengths and Vietnam is in need of development: renewable energy, infrastructure (especially high-speed railways and seaports), and digital transformation.
Strengthening business connectivity, implementing new cooperation mechanisms (such as the Joint Committee on Economic, Trade and Investment) and supporting the ratification of EVIPA will be key factors to help the two countries' trade relations develop strongly and commensurate with their potential.
