Vietnam's goods exports to the EU increased by 8.2% in the first seven months of 2025

 Tuesday, October 7,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the latest statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in July 2025, Vietnam’s export turnover to the European Union (EU) reached USD4.25 billion, a slight decrease compared to the previous month but still up 1.1% year-on-year compared to July 2024.

For the first seven months of 2025, the total export value reached USD29.6 billion, up 8.2% from the same period last year, reaffirming the EU’s role as one of Vietnam’s key export markets.
Notably, the stable growth in exports has been maintained despite fluctuating consumer demand in Europe due to inflation and tightened fiscal policies. This indicates that Vietnamese enterprises have effectively leveraged tariff preferences under the EVFTA, while remaining flexible in meeting the EU’s technical, environmental, and product safety standards.
The increase in export turnover to the EU in both volume and product quality demonstrates the improved capability of Vietnamese firms to comply with international standards. This serves as a solid foundation for forecasting continued positive growth in Vietnam’s exports to the EU in the coming months, contributing further to economic momentum amid deepening global integration.
In terms of proportion, Vietnam’s export turnover to the EU in July 2025 was approximately USD4.12 billion, accounting for 10.65% of the country’s total exports.
Overall, in the first seven months of 2025, total exports to the EU reached USD31.47 billion, representing 12.36% of Vietnam’s total export value. These figures reaffirm the EU’s position as one of Vietnam’s top strategic trading partners and a stable, sustainable consumer market in the long term.
According to Vietnam Customs data, in July 2025, Vietnam’s total export value to the EU reached USD 4.844 billion, up 11.78% compared to June 2025 and nearly unchanged from July 2024 (+0.04%).
Cumulatively, in the first seven months of 2025, exports to the EU reached USD 32.184 billion, an increase of 8.83% year-on-year, continuing to highlight the importance of this market bloc to Vietnam’s foreign trade.
By market, the Netherlands remained Vietnam’s largest export partner. In July 2025, export turnover to the Netherlands reached USD1.195 billion, up 12.78% from June 2025 and 7.06% year-on-year, accounting for 23.15% of total exports to the EU. Cumulatively, in the first seven months of 2025, exports to the Netherlands totaled USD7.452 billion, up 2.6%.
Germany ranked second with USD748 million in July 2025, up 11.42% from June 2025 but down 2.03% year-on-year; for the seven-month period, exports totaled USD5.498 billion, a sharp increase of 20.01%, accounting for 17.08% of the total.
Other major markets such as Italy, France, Spain, and Belgium maintained stable growth.
  • Italy: July 2025 exports rose slightly by 3% to USD426 million; cumulative exports for seven months were USD3.093 billion (+4.73%).
  • France: July exports increased 4.33% to USD 367 million, with cumulative exports reaching USD2.287 billion (+18.59%).
  • Belgium: Exports rose 1.54% year-on-year in July to USD346 million; cumulative exports totaled USD2.194 billion (+0.02%).
  • Spain: July exports decreased slightly by 1.46% to USD379 million, but cumulative exports rose 5.87% to USD2.492 billion.
Some markets recorded remarkable growth:
  • Austria: July exports reached USD257 million, up 69.27% month-on-month and 18.55% year-on-year; cumulative exports totaled USD1.520 billion (+21.86%).
  • Czech Republic: July exports rose 33.43% from June and 11.32% year-on-year to USD158 million; cumulative exports hit USD1.068 billion (+33%).
  • Portugal: July exports jumped 52.1% month-on-month and 75% year-on-year to USD61.1 million; cumulative exports were USD347 million (+11.12%).
  • Lithuania and Latvia also saw notable seven-month increases of 109.95% and 1.25%, respectively.
In contrast, some markets experienced sharp declines:
  • Ireland: July exports were USD52.4 million, down 18.02% from June and 69.29% year-on-year; cumulative exports totaled USD476 million, down 17.52%.
  • Finland: July exports were USD11.7 million, down 38.6% from June and 56.78% year-on-year; cumulative exports fell 35.68% to USD88.2 million.
  • Slovakia: July exports decreased 37.75% year-on-year to USD137 million; cumulative exports for seven months were USD914 million (–3.6%).
  • Croatia: July exports declined slightly by 5.26% to USD4.16 million, while cumulative exports dropped 25.41% to USD 39.1 million.
  • Other countries such as Luxembourg, Estonia, and Bulgaria also recorded double-digit declines both in July and cumulatively.
Overall, Vietnam’s exports to the EU in July 2025 showed signs of recovery compared to June 2025, driven mainly by growth in major markets (the Netherlands, Germany, France) and strong performance in niche markets (Austria, the Czech Republic, Portugal). However, a clear divergence remains as several smaller markets recorded significant decreases. For the first seven months of 2025, the market structure remained largely unchanged, with the top five markets (the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, and France) accounting for about 64.7% of total export turnover — continuing to serve as Vietnam’s core export destinations within the EU.
