Vietnam Fertilizer Market – September 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - In September 2025, domestic fertilizer prices remained stable without fluctuations compared to previous months, due to an abundant supply and no sudden change in demand during the crop season. However, compared with previous years, prices of most fertilizers were still at relatively high levels.
· Northern region: Prices of fertilizers stayed flat. Specifically, NPK 16-16-8 + TE was quoted at VND420,000–440,000 per bag. Lam Thao superphosphate was sold by distributors at VND250,000–270,000 per bag.
· Central region: No new adjustments were recorded. Phu My and Ha Anh powdered potassium chloride remained stable at VND520,000–560,000 per bag. Lao Cai phosphate had the lowest selling price at around VND270,000–300,000 per bag.
· Southwestern region: Prices continued stable. Ba Con Co NPK 20-20-15 was quoted at VND870,000–900,000 per bag, while Ca Mau granular potassium chloride remained at VND500,000–530,000 per bag.
· Southeastern region – Central Highlands: Prices stayed stable. Binh Dien NPK 20-20-15 TE was the most expensive, ranging from VND890,000–930,000 per bag. Lam Thao phosphate was the cheapest, at VND290,000–330,000 per bag.
Imports
According to preliminary statistics from Vietnam Customs, in August 2025, the country imported 584,335 tonnes of fertilizers worth USD222.28 million, at an average price of USD380.4/tonne. Compared with July 2025, this was down 2.2% in volume, down 8.4% in value, and down 6.3% in average price. Compared with August 2024, imports rose sharply by 30.2% in volume, 41.1% in value, and 8.4% in price.
In the first 8 months of 2025, fertilizer imports reached nearly 4.34 million tonnes, worth more than USD1.51 billion, at an average price of USD348.1/tonne — up 24.1% in volume, 33.1% in value, and 7.2% in price compared with the same period of 2024.
China remained the largest supplier, accounting for over 45% of both volume and value, reaching 1.97 million tonnes worth USD679.98 million (average USD344.4/tonne), up 38.3% in volume, 54.9% in value, and 12% in price year-on-year. Russia ranked second with 585,268 tonnes worth USD266.65 million (average USD455.6/tonne), accounting for 13.5% of volume and 17.7% of value, up strongly year-on-year. Laos ranked third, supplying 277,226 tonnes worth USD80.66 million (average USD291/tonne).

Exports
According to Vietnam Customs, in August 2025, fertilizer exports reached 204,697 tonnes worth USD93.54 million, at an average of USD457/tonne. This represented an increase of 13.6% in volume, 15.1% in value, and 1.3% in price compared with July 2025. Compared with August 2024, exports rose strongly by 55.4% in volume, 59.9% in value, and 2.9% in price.
In the first 8 months of 2025, exports totaled 1.5 million tonnes, worth USD624.16 million, at an average of USD415.1/tonne — up 29% in volume, 30.4% in value, and 1.1% in price year-on-year.
Cambodia was the largest export market, accounting for 32.5% of total volume and 31.3% of total value, with 489,212 tonnes worth USD195.16 million (average USD398.9/tonne). South Korea ranked second, while Malaysia came third.
