Corn imports reached nearly 1.73 billion USD in 8 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, corn imports of all kinds in the first 8 months of 2025 reached over 6.75 million tonnes, worth of nearly 1.73 billion USD, with an average price of 256 USD/tonne, down by 2.6% in volume, but up slightly by 0.8% in turnover and up by 3.5% in price compared to the first 8 months of 2024.

In particular, the country’s imports of corn in August of 2025 alone reached 1.28 million tonnes, equivalent to 315.2 million USD, with an average price of 246.5 USD/tonne, up by 24.4% in volume and up by 20.9% in turnover but down by 2.8% in price compared to July of 2025. Compared to August of 2024, it also increased by 7.5% in volume, 10.8% in turnover and 3.1% in price.
Argentina was the largest market supplying corn to Vietnam in the first 8 months of 2025, accounting for 55% of the total volume and 54.8% of the total corn import turnover of the whole country, reaching nearly 3.72 million tonnes, equivalent to over 947.95 million USD, the average price was 255 USD/tonne, down by 8.1% in volume, down by 3.1% in turnover but up by 5.4% in price compared to the first 8 months of 2024.
In August of 2025 alone, it reached 805,176 tonnes, equivalent to 197.67 million USD, with a price of 245.5 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 46% in volume and 41.3% in turnover compared to July of 2025, but the price decreased by 3.2%; compared to August 2024, it decreased by 6.2% in volume, decreased by 4% in turnover, but the price increased by 2.3%.
The second largest market was Brazil. In the first 8 months of 2025, the country’s imports of corn from Brazil reached 1.48 million tonnes, equivalent to 367.9 million USD, priced at 248.7 USD/tonne, accounting for 21.9% of the total volume and 21.3% of the total corn import turnover of the country, down by 17.2% in volume, down by 18.9% in turnover and down by 2.1% in price compared to the first 8 months of 2024.
In addition to the above two main markets, Vietnam also imported corn from the Lao market with 51,975 tonnes, equivalent to 11.72 million USD, priced at 225.5 USD/tonne in the first 8 months of 2025, down by 30.3% in volume, down by 37.1% in turnover and down by 9.8% in price compared to the first 8 months of 2024. The imports from the Thai market reached 3,417 tonnes, equivalent to 12.76 million USD, down by 1.3% in volume, but up by 2.9% in value; imports from the Cambodian market reached 53,846 tonnes, equivalent to 12.41 million USD; imports from the Lao market reached 51,975 tonnes, equivalent to 11.72 million USD, down by 30.3% in volume, and down by 37% in value.
