Major commodity groups imported from New Zealand in 8 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, goods imported from New Zealand to Vietnam reached over 526.95 million USD in the first 8 months of 2025, a sharp increase of 31.4% over the same period of 2024.

In August of 2025 alone, the turnover reached over 52.15 million USD, down by 29.6% compared to July of 2025 and down by 10.4% compared to August of 2024.
In the opposite direction, goods exports to New Zealand reached over 461.71 million USD in the first 8 months of 2025, down by 0.3% compared to the first 8 months of 2024. Thus, the total two-way turnover between Vietnam and New Zealand reached 988.67 million USD, up by 14.4% compared to the first 8 months of 2024. Vietnam's trade deficit with the New Zealand market in the first 8 months of 2025 reached 65.24 million USD, while in the first 8 months of 2024, Vietnam's trade deficit with the New Zealand market reached 62.02 million USD.
In 2024, the total two-way turnover between Vietnam and New Zealand reached over 1.29 billion USD, down by 2.9% compared to 2023. Of the figure, Vietnam exported to New Zealand reached 686.79 million USD, up by 5.9% and imported from this market 604 million USD, down by 11.2%. Thus, Vietnam's trade surplus with the New Zealand market in 2024 reached 82.78 million USD, while in 2023, the trade deficit with New Zealand was 31.52 million USD.
In the first 8 months of 2025, the group of imported milk and dairy products from New Zealand achieved the largest turnover of over 291.99 million USD, accounting for 55.4% of the total import turnover of all kinds of goods from this market, a sharp increase of 52.2% compared to the first 8 months of 2024. In August of 2025 alone, the country’s imports of milk and dairy products from New Zealand reached nearly 23.99 million USD, down by 37.2% compared to July of 2025 and down by 2.5% compared to August of 2024.
The group of imported fruits and vegetables from New Zealand ranked second in terms of turnover, reaching 94.86 million USD, accounting for 18% of the total turnover, up by 19.3%. The next was the group of wood and wood products with 44.39 million USD, accounting for 8.4% of the total turnover, up by 19.1%. In general, the import turnover of goods from New Zealand in the first 8 months of 2025 mostly increased compared to the first 8 months of 2024.
