Vietnam to achieve target of 65 billion USD in agricultural, forestry and fishery exports
Friday, September 12,2025
AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in August of 2025 was estimated at 5.71 billion USD. In the first 8 months, the total turnover reached 45.37 billion USD, an increase of 12% over the same period last year.
The export market structure has many clear changes. Asia continued to be the region with the largest market share at 43.1%, followed by the Americas (23.2%) and Europe at 14.6%. Although the proportion was still small, exports to Africa and Oceania increased by 3.1% and 1.3% respectively.
Compared to the same period of 2024, the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the first 8 months of 2025 to Europe increased by 38.7%, to the Americas increased by 10.6%, and to Africa doubled. In individual markets, the exports to the US increased by 8.1%, to China increased by 2.6% - but there is still a lot of potential.
The expansion to ASEAN markets such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore is also being promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to diversify.
In terms of production organization, the livestock industry recorded stability. As of the end of August, the country's pig herd increased by 0.5% over the same period, and the poultry herd increased by 3.6%. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued nearly 90 directives, organized 5 thematic seminars and coordinated with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine to establish more than 70 working groups to inspect and guide disease prevention.
In the field of cultivation, the rice cultivation area nationwide reached 6.72 million hectares, up by 1% over the same period last year; the output was estimated at 30 million tonnes, up by 1.6%. This is an important foundation to ensure domestic food security and contribute to exports.
Aquaculture continued to play a key role with an output of about 6.4 million tonnes in the first 8 months. The forestry sector also grew positively, with an estimated timber output of nearly 15.5 million m³, up by 7.4% over last year.
To achieve the export target of 65 billion USD in 2025, each sector and field needs to be highly determined, while perfecting institutions, having plans to implement key resolutions, proactively adapting to reciprocal taxes and promoting investment resources.
The agriculture and environment sector will continue to maintain its growth momentum and the target of 65 billion USD, not trading the environment for the economy, while creating a solid foundation for the 2026-2030 period. The Ministry has received many comments, especially related to procedures for controlling waste incineration activities, including food waste.
