AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam's import and export turnover remained high, reaching over 40 billion USD in the first half of August.

The latest preliminary statistics from the Customs Department showed that Vietnam's total import and export turnover in the first period of August 2025 (August 1-15) reached 40.36 billion USD, down by 8.4% (equivalent to a decrease of 3.68 billion USD) compared to the results in the second half of July 2025.
Despite the decrease in the first half of August, in general, since the beginning of the year, Vietnam's import and export turnover has still achieved high growth compared to the same period last year.
Specifically, from the beginning of the year to August 15, the total import-export turnover reached 555.21 billion USD, an increase of 16.6% (equivalent to an increase of 79.2 billion USD) compared to the same period of 2024.
Of which, enterprises with foreign direct investment (FDI) reached 393.20 billion USD, an increase of 21.8% (equivalent to an increase of 70.26 billion USD).
In the first period of August, the trade balance of goods had a deficit of 230 million USD. From the beginning of the year to the end of August 15, 2025, the trade balance of goods had a surplus of 10.02 billion USD.
Regarding exports, by August 15, the total turnover reached 282.62 billion USD, an increase of 15% (equivalent to an increase of 36.95 billion USD) compared to the same period in 2024.
Some groups of goods increased, such as computers, electronic products and components increased by 18.33 billion USD (equivalent to an increase of 42.6%); machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts increased by 4.48 billion USD (equivalent to an increase of 14.9%); coffee increased by 2.41 billion USD (equivalent to an increase of 62.8%)...
Meanwhile, imports reached 272.59 billion USD, an increase of 18.3% (equivalent to an increase of 42.24 billion USD) compared to the same period in 2024.
Groups of goods increased sharply were computers, electronic products and components increased by 24.56 billion USD (equivalent to an increase of 38%); Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts increased by 7.15 billion USD (equivalent to an increase of 24.5%).
