Computer and electronic product exports make impressive breakthroughs

 Monday, September 8,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the latest statistics from the Customs Department, from the beginning of the year to August 15, 2025, the total export turnover of the whole country reached 282.61 billion USD, an increase of over 15% over the same period last year.

Of which, computers, electronic products and components continued to be the group of goods with the largest contribution.
In the overall picture of exports with many bright colors, computers, electronic products and components continue to be the highlight with outstanding contributions.
As of August 15, this group of goods reached a turnover of 61.32 billion USD, an increase of 42.6% over the same period last year (equivalent to an increase of more than 18.3 billion USD), accounting for about 21.7% of the total export turnover of the whole country.
This figure not only showed the dominance but also emphasizes the strategic role of high-tech products in Vietnam's commodity exports.
The strong growth of this group of products shows that Vietnam is increasingly positioning itself as a center for the production and export of high-value electronic products, attracting foreign investment and creating many quality jobs.
Notably, with a large turnover scale and high growth rate, the proportion of computers, electronic products and components in the total export turnover of the whole country has made a significant breakthrough compared to 1 year ago.
Specifically, by August 15, 2024, the proportion of this group of products in the total export turnover of the whole country was only at 17.5%, but by 2025 it had increased by 4.2 percentage points to 21.7% as mentioned above.
The 4.2 percentage point increase in the country's export proportion is a very meaningful figure. It not only shows the growth in scale but also shows a strong improvement in the position and influence of the technology group in the country's total exports.
This is also evidence that Vietnam is increasingly shifting its export structure towards increasing added value, focusing on products with high technology content instead of traditional products with low added value.
Market diversification
The export market for computers, electronic products and components is also very diverse.
In particular, the major markets include: the US with a turnover of 22.24 billion USD (updated according to the market of the Customs Department as of July 2025), an increase of 67.8% over the same period last year.
The next was China with 9.53 billion USD, an increase of 37%; Hong Kong (China) with 5.73 billion USD, up by 25.2%; EU with 5.47 billion USD, up by 7.8%.
A strong presence in large and developed markets around the world, including the US, China, Korea and European countries... shows that Vietnam's competitiveness and product quality are widely recognized. This also reflects Vietnam's deep integration into the global value chain, especially in the electronics sector.
The outstanding export results of the group of computers, electronic products and components have many important meanings for the Vietnamese economy.
First of all, as mentioned above, this result shows the successful shift in Vietnam's export structure towards reducing dependence on traditional agricultural or light industrial products that are labor-intensive, instead increasing the export of high-tech products with high added value. This helps improve the competitiveness of the economy, create a more sustainable source of foreign currency and promote economic growth in depth.
The growth of this group of products is also a testament to the attractiveness of Vietnam's investment environment, especially for enterprises with foreign direct investment (FDI). Because FDI enterprises play a leading role in the manufacturing and export of electronics, computers and components.
The expansion of production and export of FDI enterprises has greatly contributed to the overall success of this group of products. This strengthens the belief in the potential for high-tech industrial development in Vietnam.
In addition, the growth results of the group of computers, electronic products and components partly affirm Vietnam's position as an important link in the global electronics supply chain. In the context of the world facing many geopolitical and economic challenges, the ability to maintain and promote technology export growth is a major competitive advantage.
It can be said that, with turnover accounting for nearly 22% of the country's total export turnover, the group of computers, electronic products and components has really created an impressive breakthrough in Vietnam's export picture over the past 7 months.
