 Friday, September 5,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the latest preliminary statistics of the Customs Department, as of August 15, the whole country had 7 groups of export goods reaching 10 billion USD or more.

As of August 15, Vietnam's total export turnover reached 282.61 billion USD, an increase of more than 15% over the same period last year, equivalent to an increase of nearly 37 billion USD.
Major contributors to the above results are key groups of goods, of which 7 groups reached a turnover of 10 billion USD or more.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of groups of goods reaching a turnover of 10 billion USD or more increased by 2 groups: means of transport and spare parts; wood and wood products.
Specifically, in the first half of August (August 1-15), the turnover of the group of means of transport and spare parts reached nearly 700 million USD, thereby raising the turnover from the beginning of the year to August 15 to more than 10.6 billion USD.
Compared to the same period last year, the above figure increased by 14.04%, equivalent to an increase of more than 1.3 billion USD.
For wood and wood products, the turnover in the first half of August reached nearly 720 million USD. In total, from the beginning of the year to August 15, the turnover reached 10.37 billion USD, an increase of 8.26%, equivalent to an increase of nearly 800 million USD compared to the same period in 2024.
Computers firmly hold the No. 1 position
In the 7 groups of tens of billions of dollars, computers, electronic products and components still firmly hold the No. 1 position.
In the first half of August, the export of computers, electronic products and components reached nearly 4.6 billion USD. Accumulated from the beginning of the year to August 15, 2025, it reached 61.32 billion USD, an increase of 42.6% over the same period last year, equivalent to an increase of more than 18.3 billion USD.
Not only firmly holding the No. 1 position, the growth of computers, electronic products and components is also very impressive.
Phones of all kinds and components maintained their position as the second largest export group of our country. However, from the beginning of the year until now, the growth rate of this group of goods is much lower than that of the remaining key products.
Accumulated from the beginning of the year to August 15, 2025, the exports of phones and components reached nearly 35 billion, reaching 34.94 billion USD, only a slight increase of 0.37% compared to the same period last year.
The third export group was machinery, equipment, tools and other spare parts. Accumulated from the beginning of the year to August 15, 2025, the turnover of this group of goods reached 34.65 billion USD, an increase of 14.86% compared to the same period last year, equivalent to an increase of nearly 4.5 billion USD.
Textiles and garments ranked fourth with a turnover of 24.45 billion USD, an increase of 10.13% compared to the same period last year, equivalent to an increase of 2.25 billion USD.
Footwear of all kinds is the fifth largest export group of Vietnam with a turnover of more than 15 billion USD, an increase of 8.33% over the same period last year, equivalent to an increase of nearly 1.16 billion USD.
Thus, most of the main export groups have had positive growth, especially computers, electronic products and components; machinery, equipment, other spare parts; means of transport and spare parts...
However, currently, enterprises with foreign direct investment (FDI) still have a large advantage in the main export groups, especially related to the technology sector such as computers, phones, machinery, etc.
Regarding the export market, the US continued to be Vietnam's largest export partner, with a total turnover of 85.1 billion USD.
The next were the major markets in Asia such as China with 35 billion USD, South Korea with 16.3 billion USD and Japan with 15.1 billion USD.
Other important markets include ASEAN region, Hong Kong (China), Netherlands, India and Germany.
Diversifying export markets is an important factor helping Vietnam minimize risks and maximize opportunities for trade globalization.
