Daily: Domestic pepper prices held steady on August 25, 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, domestic pepper prices on the morning of August 25, 2025, ranged between VND143,000 – 146,000/kg, remaining unchanged compared to Yesterday.

Last week, pepper was supported by the U.S. dollar, leading to gains in most major producing countries. In addition, preparations for the year-end peak season helped keep pepper prices high.
In Đắk Lắk province: VND146,000/kg.
In Đắk Nông (Lâm Đồng province): VND146,000/kg.
In Gia Lai province: VND143,500/kg.
Meanwhile, in Đồng Nai: VND143,000/kg.
In Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (Ho Chi Minh City area): VND144,000/kg.
In Bình Phước (Đồng Nai province): VND144,000/kg.
Pepper prices this morning remained stable compared to the same time yesterday. For the week, prices increased by an average of VND3,000 – 4,000/kg. Last week, pepper was supported by the U.S. dollar, leading to gains in most major producing countries. In addition, preparations for the year-end peak season helped keep pepper prices at high levels.
Experts believe the upward trend may continue this week, as trading activity accelerates ahead of the upcoming National Day holiday. The market is also awaiting a potential Fed interest rate cut in September.
At the close of the latest session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed black pepper Lampung (Indonesia) at USD7,129/tonne; black pepper Brazil ASTA 570 at USD6,000/tonne; black pepper Kuching (Malaysia) ASTA at USD9,600/tonne.
White pepper Muntok was at USD9,966/tonne; white pepper Malaysia ASTA at USD12,800/tonne.
Vietnamese black pepper traded at USD6,240/tonne for the 500 g/l grade; USD6,370/tonne for the 550 g/l grade; and white pepper at USD8,950/tonne.
According to ITC, in the first half of 2025, global pepper imports reached 157,213 tonnes, down 33.6% compared to the same period in 2024 but up 1.4% from 2023 (incomplete data, excluding Vietnam). The U.S. remains the world’s largest pepper consumer with 28.9% market share, importing 45,446 tonnes, down 18.7% year-on-year. Other major markets include India (18,091 tonnes), Germany (13,369 tonnes), France (6,723 tonnes), and the U.K. (5,929 tonnes).
Global pepper exports in Q3 2025 may face challenges due to retaliatory tariffs, but conditions are expected to improve from Q4 onwards. According to Nedspice, global pepper output in 2025 is estimated at 434,000 tonnes, nearly unchanged from last year. Global demand has exceeded supply for five consecutive years, leading to low global stock levels.
